Audirvana 1.4

I'm having problems again with 1.4.5. It will play 3-4 tracks, then I'll hear a very brief bit of the next (or previous?) song, and it stops. I'm using it in iTunes integration mode, and the only thing I can do is close and reopen A+ to get it working again.

Version 1.4.4.7 seems to have resolved the issue for me, too. Thanks!

Audirvana 1.4

I added my vote for Audirvana as product of the year. Despite the hiccup in the most recent update, I've really enjoyed the difference it's made in my modest setup. I also have Pure Music and Fidelia, but much prefer Audirvana Plus.

I am having similar problems where the playback either just stops in the midst of a song, or won't play the next song in the queue.

Tried using 'play again' a few times, and it didn't work. After posting here, it did. Figures.

After updating to 1.4.4 today, the 'play next' feature in iTunes 11 no longer works.
7. I have the Love CD, but except for the alternate version of "...Gently Weeps," I've never really cared for it. We almost went to see the Las Vegas show, but my wife wanted to see "O" instead (and she always wins). If I get another chance to see the show, I will... perhaps I'll like it better if I do.
8. There are a few interesting differences between the mono & stereo versions of Beatle recordings. In the stereo version of "If I Fell," Paul's voice breaks during one of the choruses, but not on the mono version. For some reason, "She's Leaving Home" got slightly speeded up from the mono version. Lastly, the "I got blisters on my fingers" bit at the end of (senior moment here) on the White album is left off on the mono version. I'm sure there are other differences.

I'll likely stick with my USB apple (for stereo), and the Mono CDs... I really can't tell the difference between 16/44.1 and higher resolution audio.
9. Though I've downloaded a few things from HDTracks (and haven't had any download problems), the truth is that I can't tell the difference between 16/44.1 ripped from CDs, and 24/96 FLAC downloads. For instance, I borrowed a friend's "Raising Sand" CD, and ripped it. Later, I downloaded the 24/96 version from HDTracks. After much A/B listening, I simply couldn't distinguish one from the other (no matter whether listening on headphones or speakers). So, my inclination now is just to go on and rip CDs, and not worry about higher definition downloads. I know HDTracks (and others) offer "redbook" downloads (and maybe iTunes will one day), and that's great. But, for now, I'll probably just go back to purchasing CDs, and ripping them myself.
10. Thanks for the tip... I went ahead and downloaded this from HDTracks, and received the discount.

I've only listened once (through headphones), and enjoyed it... I don't think I would have known the instrumentation was synthesized (which is remarkable in itself), but was mostly struck by how much his music reminds me of Frank Zappa.
11. I used to be an audiophile skeptic, but after buying a LessLoss Blackbody
ambient field conditioner for a mere $1k, and setting it next to my iPod... Hoo mama!
12. To say I'm a Rolling Stones fan would be a huge understatement. That aside, I believe Abkco owns the rights to many of the Stones recordings, over which the Stones themselves have no control. I'd rather the Stones themselves had something to do with it, as they did with the remastering and recent re-release of "Exile on Main Street."
13. Disappointing. I doubt the Stones themselves would be happy about this... Allen Klein screwed them big time.
14. Pro Tools just for audio playback? Hoo mama! That's like having a nuke instead of a 12-gauge Mossberg for home defense. I think I'll just stick with Pure Music and Fidelia. ; )
15. FYI: There's a new CD ripper for Mac, Phile Audio, that rips to a variety of formats (including AIFF, FLAC & WAV). It's available from Apple's new App Store for Mac. It allows you to create several formats simultaneously (I generally rip to AAC and ALAC), will automatically place the file type(s) of your choice into your iTunes library, and provides options for finding cover art, etc. I've been using it for a few weeks, and have found it very easy to use. I wish it would also convert already existing audio files to different formats, but it seems you have to start with a CD. So MAX is probably still the best option for that.
