  1. We don't praise Sonore's customer support often enough. Jesus, Adrian and Barrows all have stepped up to the plate promptly and generously when I have had issues, even user-created ones, even ones past the warranty's expiration. The support is one very specific reason why I remain enthusiastic about my Sonore products.
  2. Thanks for letting us know, Ales.
  3. As long as we are discussing the interface, I would love to see not only the requested "composer" field displayed, but, also, a "new" or "recent" screen that displays the last 50 or 100 albums imported. Most of the other UI's that I like - JRiver, LMS, Audirvana, Roon - allow that field to be displayed, if not designated as, or defaulted to, the landing screen.
  4. Alas, that price. Way, way, way out of my range. Before I bought my Apollon 1et400a amp, which cost about 5% as much as this gem, I shopped long and hard for an integrated that incorporated class D amplification (preferably with those modules in particular), hopefully one without built-in streamer and DAC. (Because I already was invested in external DAC and streamer, I didn’t want to obsolete what I already owned, and I still have the occasional need for a phono preamp input.). At that time, about a year ago, almost all of the 1et400a power amps for sale were well below $2k. I figured that I might be able to land that preamp/amp combo for about twice that. Unfortunately, the product I wanted doesn’t exist. It probably never will exist. I guess that, at this stage of market maturity, these all-in-ones, with their higher price points, are what the people want to buy and manufacturers want to offer. Other manufacturers offer components comparable in function to the Aurender’s, albeit at lower price points, but I don’t know of others that have these particular class D modules.
  5. I mostly play into HQPlayer Embedded, which I point at the NAA installation on one of the Rendus or, now, the Ropieee Pi4. i can use Minimserver, JRiver, or any other DLNA player as the HQPlayer front end. I strongly prefer JRiver’s to the several other options that I have because I like the interface, it has avoided some multi-volume set library errors that befall MinimServer and because it hasn’t choked yet in the immense library. It’s hip to knock JRiver, but I don’t have issues with it usually and, when I have had them, the forum at JRiver has produced adequate tech support. I am a fan.
  6. Yes. I use minimserver as a backup to JRiver when steaming over UPnP to the rendu. With my Pi configured now as an end point, I can use minimserver in the same fashion.
  7. Using Squeezelite with Volumio also proved problematic with a library this large. For whatever reason, Volumio stopped making itself available to LMS despite my uninstalling and reinstalling the plug-in a couple of times. I have concluded that the Pi 4 just doesn’t have enough horsepower to serve a library as large as mine. I installed Ropieee in lieu of Volumio. The Pi now is just an end point and I need to use the NUC or my Dell as the server, but, thus far, the various controller apps have worked like a charm. This change of function for the Pi defeats my original reason for having it, i.e., eliminating the need to spend time troubleshooting ten devices and cables in the signal chain when my Rendu won’t play back and I just want to listen to some music, but the Pi simply isn’t up to the server obligation in this application. Okto has confirmed that the 5 is of a different physical size and has a different port configuration, so it isn’t substitutable in the DAC. Pavel also said that he knows of no current server application that can be installed on a 5. So, that’s not my escape hatch.
  8. I have tried a number of server apps but not those. I had some display anomalies in JPlay iOS, but the ones with JRiver were the ones that were most extreme. Unfortunately, JRiver is my preferred front end, so I decided just to continue to stream either directly from it to my Rendu or through HQPlayer Embedded OS.
  9. When using JRiver as my preferred library, I had similar issues with cover art being incorrect or missing. JPlay tech support worked hard to resolve the issue, which I appreciated, but the workaround was clumsy, unfortunately, so I let my subscription lapse. Even with the art imprecision, though, I don't recall incorrect tracks playing. Which player do you use for your library?
  10. Another angle is that there is a Squeezelite player plug in for Volumio. It seems to work and it offloads the library management to LMS. I probably can live with that as my backup, although I remain curious about applications, like Volumio, that allow me to manage playback closer to the DAC.
  11. He has. When I looked there, I found a lot of Linux code to be inserted into terminal sessions. I can follow directions and my entire signal chain is Linux-based, so it isnt a deal killer. I just appreciate that applications like Volumio and HQPlayer make the guts pretty accessible by folding them into the GUI with pick lists and dialogues.
  12. This is good info, what is your hardware? Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ that connects to a Buffalo LS220D0602-EU 6TB LinkStation 220D 2 Bay Desktop NAS " Worth a shot ? Thanks for this info. I have avoided trying Moode because there are some setup details that looked more complicated than I prefer because they are done in terminal. Might be worth experimenting and seeing what I can get working. My understanding has been that Moode and Volumio are branches of the same basic code, so I assumed there wouldn't be major differences between their library management capacity. I guess I should try it before assuming anything.
  13. Good point. The Volumio website is very vague about this.
  14. Chris, the issue definitely could be with the Pi 4. It's not exactly the Maserati of media devices. I can ask Okto if the Pi 5 is swappable for the 4.
