  1. Hi all I have a Peachtree iNOVA amplifier and I'm wondering if I can use the pre-amp and DAC with a new amplifier made by LFD. Any hints? Many thanks!!
  2. I'm awaiting the arrival of a Peachtree iNova. I was advised to get a "starlight" USB from Wireworld to connect my iMac. But now I'm concerned that I need either an optical or coaxial to take advantage of the iNova's 24/192 capabilities. Do I just get an adapter to go from the iMac's miniplug through an optical cable to the Peachtree optical input? Can I get away with an inexpensive cable or do I need a costly one? Any suggestions??
  3. ..quite helpful. I'm trying to get everything more or less in place for best sound in preparation for my Peachtree iNova, which comes in February.
  4. David. You have really approached this fascinating topic with a scientist's eye! Bravo! The defensiveness of some self-proclaimed audiophiles makes me deeply suspicious. Your randomized test was very cool. You ought to send the resultant files you made to Cookie to see if SHE can tell which track is which. I'm reminded of a certain hi end dealer selling speaker cables for some outrageous amount of money. The magician and debunker James Randy issued them a challenge to prove their claims in a double blind study against lower cost cables. They went on with the same insolent crap about their ears being superior but at the end of the day, declined the challenge.
  5. Just ordered the Peachtree inova. Talked to a very reliable cat and was advised to get USB and speaker cables both from a company called wireworld. The USB is called "starlight" and the cables are called "Oasis." Paired with my proac tablettes, the sound should be pretty ridiculous. I'll try to post a review, but my INOVA doesn't get here until February. The dac in the Peachtree is comparable to just about any 1000 dollar dac. The amp in the iNova is rated at 80wpc but has been substantially improved over the Nova. If you switch amps later, you can still use the iNova as a pre and dac. That sold me on this setup. Good luck!!!
  6. Someone said that rather than close and reopen itunes and modify the output bit rate and sampling via audio MIDI utility every time I want to play a 24/96 file, just LEAVE the output setting as 24/96. Then it will properly play these files and will upsample standard 16/44 files. The claim was that this will not harm the sound quality of the 16/44 files. Is this correct? Comments?
