1. Hi- i'm assuming you used the analog out of the TP- did you compare the TP into the meitner vs the laptop/USB?

Also, was the TP connected to the network via ethernet or wifi?
 2. rather than comparisons to mac/windows, i'd like to see comparisons to other dedicated servers, particularly the Transporter. I appreciate the TP is end-of-life, but in my system, it sounds better than a mac mini connected the same dac using the Halide Bridge.

in other words, even when used strictly as a transport, bypassing it's built in dac, the Transporter, taking it's data over ethernet, and feeding the same dac (in this case, a Meridian G61 controller) sounds better than a mini running itunes/Pure Music, connected via Halide Bridge, to the same meridian controller.

i suspect this is because ethernet is inherently better than USB, even asynch, for audio data transportation.
 3. thanks, that did the trick (although, to be fair, i'd tried that once or twice previously, so not sure why it worked this time.)
 4. it's an attractive looking player, downloaded 1.1.2, and have selected my Halide Bridge in the sound pref pane and audio midi. however, music will only play via the built in speaker. stand alone itunes, or PM/Decibel, both play correctly via the Halide. any ideas on how to fix? i have a mac mini running 10.6.8, w/ iTunes 10.4
 5. Eloise, one powerful feature of many NAS arrays is the ability to use RAID, so that your data is in effect, always mirrored w/ other drives, and therefore backed up.

the Drobo will allow one to hot-swap drives, w/o losing any data.

of course, this is not a substitute for off-site backup.
 6. thanks for the review Chris. assuming you have experience with the Drobo NAS arrays, how would you compare the two?
 7. very clean and simple, and i bet it sounds great.
 8. where did you order the v-link? it's still not listed on the MF (US) Site, and doesn't show up on Amazon.
 9. nice write up Chris. i would be interested in comparisons of the V-Link to both the HiFace, and the Halide Design USB-->SPDIF converters. once you add cables to the HiFace and MF, the costs is comparable to the Halide.

also, has MF stated why the persist in Adaptive USB technology on their other products, when they have superior Async technology available?
 10. here a few shots of my system- the only difference between the pics and the system in my sig is the change from A5 to Krell. it's a 3 Channel system for video (no surrounds), the cable box and Oppo are connected to the 561 via coax, as is the mac mini (via the HiFace). the Drobo sits behind the display- it will fit in the cabinet, but the fan runs constantly with the doors closed. there's a single red rose M150 monoblock behind the center speaker.
 11. have you tried something like the HiFace or Halide Bridge into the Coax input on the A1008? i had an A5 before the krell. i basically liked the sound, but found it frustrating from an ergonomic standpoint. via the remote, it was impossible to adjust the volume properly- it steps up or down in too large an increment. also, the remote eye had a very narrow reception range, so via the Harmony, it would not reliably switch inputs. wonder if these quirks persist in later designs like to A1008, or M6i?
 12. the CLiC does look interesting- wonder how good the preamp is, and what's the USB implementation? are there analog inputs as well, so one could integrate it into a HT system? i've been curious about the dac in the A1008- i'm assuming the USB input is limited to 16/44? a few years back, the Signal Path guys were the US distributor for MF, and they apparently approached anthony with the idea for the Nova, and MF passed.
 13. several years ago I had a MF CD/Pre 24, a CD transport+DAC+ADC+preamp. one of my favorite pieces of equipment ever. difficult to integrate into an HT system however, so i sold it. now, if someone (nuforce?) would just combine a BDP-93 w/ a preamp...
