  1. Thank you! I'll look into those. Everything I've read about the Schiit products has been really positive. Mytek is new to me, but I'll explore. Thanks for the tips!
  2. Hi! First-time poster, apologies for potential repeats. I upgraded my Sennheiser HD-650s to Audeze LCD-2, and so far really enjoying them. Current system is Macbook Pro to Dragonfly Cobalt to Audeze. There are sources that I notice seem a little treble-heavy, or a little muddy. Is it worth investing in an even higher-quality DAC or amp? I'm open to spending up to the $1500 range. I've heard good things about the Matrix Quattro, or the Chord Hugo 2. My musical emphasis is opera and other vocal music, if that influences the choices. Thank you! I've been an avid reader of these forums for years :)
  3. Hi everyone, I'm looking to add an outboard DAC to take advantage of my better 16/44.1 recordings, and maybe branch into 24/96 or 24/192. My distributed home-audio system will eventually use a Mac mini -> rDAC -> Nuvo Essentia. My main question is that based on the wiring in my house, the signal frequently runs over cat5 wire, and in two zones it goes nuvo -> RCA -> balun ->in-wall cat5 -> balun -> RCA ->amplifier. Will all this switching degrade the sound quality a significant amount? Thanks for the feedback! Rob
  4. Hi! Thrilled to have found this site, thanks to all for their informative posts. I'm just getting started with higher-level audio, and my current plan is run iTunes from Mac Mini to DAC (I will probably get the Arcam rDAC), then to my NuVo Essentia head unit, then out to the speakers distributed around the house. Here's my question: for two of the zones, I don't have in-wall speakers, so the sound runs from the head unit to a balun that converts it to cat5e wire, through my in-wall cat5e, then out another balun which converts it back to RCA, then to my separate amps. Will all these conversions affect the sound quality? I realize it's just changing wires, but I'm a fan of minimalist connections (not possible in this scenario). Thanks in advance! RT
