  1. Any one know if the 3.5-mm stereo headphone minijack has digital output (as in optical). The specs on the Apple website do not specify. Obviously, it is analog. Sure would be great if it was optical out as well.
  2. Apparently the Mac Mini "sees" the connected monitor/display even if it is powered down. I set my system up without a monitor from the outset.
  3. I just spoke with Apple tech support, who has been very responsive in troubleshooting the problem of Cover Flow not working with a headless Mac Mini (8 gig of ram and 120 gig SSD). He reported that engineering had in fact replicated the problem and it was now a know issue. He also reported that they will proceed to develop a patch to correct the problem. As soon as I connected a monitor to the Mac Mini, Cover Flow worked. Apparently, as soon as the Mac Mini sees the monitor in Displays, Cover Flow works. As to why this is, he could only say that engineering is trying to further identify the problem and fix it. So, that is the latest. I will say that Apple Tech support has been superb, which has consistently been the case, the few times I have had to turn to them.
  4. No problem. Thank you for the clarification. I got another person at Apple in tech support to help take another look at this problem and we, together, went through the steps above. This did not resolve the problem. The consequence, is what I had hoped for, which is that the case has been referred to engineering. I will have an answer next Friday, hopefully. As 57gold mentions, PM was installed and then coverflow stopped working. One difference appears to be that 57gold is operating in 64 bit mode. Anyway that is the latest. Thanks again for you help
  5. "So move (or delete) file #2, and then use file #1 to regenerate the library by importing it from the menu option to import a library." Sorry for being so dense. When you state "importing it", what are you referring to? And, in iTunes I cannot find a menu option to import a library. I do find "File>Add to Library" or "File>Library> Organize Library. Please clarify and thank you for your attention and patience. BTW, I just talked to Katie at Apple and she was not able to address the problem. I have asked that the ticket be advanced to the next tier. We'll see.
  6. Thanks for the prompt reply. For those of us still learning iTunes please explain in more detail "regenerate it using the xml file".
  7. So, as to Safari check this link at Apple Support: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1594. If you have the same problem as I did, you will discover that it is the Safari plugin for Flash. Once removed, that resolved the problem. As to the coverflow problem (message: "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer". I spoke to Apple and have a ticket number, but they have yet to respond. It has been four days. When I spoke to support, they did not have an answer and said they would call me back. I am going to call them today. Since my set-up (2010 Mac Mini with 8gb ram) was new, I have received this error message in coverflow with a black background. Whether it has anything to do with PM is unclear, since I have had that app on the Mac Mini from the beginning. So, if any one has any ideas please let me know.
  8. Given your set-up and your efforts to track down the problem, I suggest you contact Rob at tech support at Channel D. My experience with him has been outstanding. More often than not, he picked up the phone and promptly resolved whatever problem I was having. He also listens to customer feedback regarding the feature set of Pure Music. Good luck. Rob
