Thanks to all. Now I'm really confused, as I've never been network conversant. I'm running Vista, Synology 1515+, and SSR, Lumin app, and I'm only concerned with my home network. The only issue I have is that the Lumin app will suddenly close on my Ipad. Will having a static IP help, and if not, can I "undo" the static IP ?

And what are some of the consequences of not having one ?

A very wise man told me: "Since your true UPnP control points (like Kinsky) work, but Lumin and Kazzoo don;t (both are Open Home control points) it sounds like Bubbleserver (the plugin that makes virtual Open Home renderer copies from normal UPnP renderes) is not installed on your NAS nor is the Sonore then configured to be an Open Home renderer (done in Bubbleserver web interface)." BubbleUp Server was no longer on my NAS or PC After re-installing the software, and a bit of configuration, everything works. Many thanks to the Wise Man.

Vista 64, Synology 1515+, Sonore SSR, Ipad runing Linn, Kazoo, and Kinsky. Everything was running great until I removed a second Synology NAS, (1513+) from my system. Now the Linn app won't play any files, as it keeps asking me SELECT A LUMIN. When I try to select, that part of the menu is blank. Kazoo presents the same problem. Kinsky works fine. I have unplugged and rebooted everything, reinstalled the Linn app, with no results. My NAS does appear in Windows Explorer. Absolutely no updates or changes made, except for the removal of the other NAS. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Running Win Vista 64. I started with a 1513+, which I accessed via the Synology Web Assistant. I then added a 1515+, and was able to access both via their dedicated Web Assistant shortcuts on my desktop, with absolutely no problems. I removed the 1513+ and sent it to a friend. Now my Synology Web Assistant shortcut cannot find my NAS, and I get a No DiskStation found within LAN message. The browser address bar reads find.synology, com/# The NAS is visible and accessible in Windows Explorer. Please see screenshot. When I right click on Iras_NAS (DS1515+), located in the right side pane, I have the option to View The Device Webpage. A click directly brings me to the NAS portal, which is the page that was visible after the log in page accessed via Synology Web Assistant. Is it normal to access the DSM via Win Explorer ? Any ideas why the Web Assistant stopped working ? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have to use pre-terminated Cat5e cable. (Don't ask.) The run is 36 feet, so I'm buying a 50 foot length. How do I handle the excess? I know that the excess length of interconnects and speaker cables should never be neatly looped. Does the same hold true for the Cat5e? Thank you.

Ted, Here's the way the option currently reads Album.sortTags={Album, Artist}, Artist.ignore.*={The}, AlbumArtist.ignore.*={The} Exactly what should I change? Sorry to be such a PITA, but this is uncharted territory for me.

Hi, New MinimServer user here. Sorry if this has been previously asked, but a search didn't return any results. I use Mp3Tag for tagging, Lumin for accessing my library. I will tag Beatles albums as The Beatles as artist. Lumin displays all Beatles albums as Beatles, The. Is there a way to have them, and all other "THE" artists listed as I have tagged them? For example The Beatles instead of Beatles, The. Thanks.

I'm not yet familiar with backing up via the USB ports, but that seems like the way to go. At the moment I have about 8 TB of music, and I figured "What the heck."
