  1. Thanks very informative link here @audiobomber. SQFIRST, what you say makes a lot of sense.
  2. Paying more attention now to this suggestion @SQFIRST, for which my thanks. Yes, I have heard this before, but in my earlier not extensive testing (admittedly) I found that it was actually a bit better in my case to have clean linear DC power for both TP-Links, even though both were being fed by the two outputs of the same Uptone JS-2. I should revisit this to make sure when I make all these upcoming changes with the Finisars, 10GTeks etc. Do you feel it could/should be better if I were to use an IFI SMPS for the first 10GTek (or TP-LINK) unit that is receiving ethernet signal from my Verizon router? And feed the second 10GTek alone from the JS-2? Also, as others here have suggested above, I have also thought of eventually moving from the 10GTeks to a combination of Sonore units or Sonore/Uptone units for the ethernet-optical-ethernet conversion. Or maybe just a superior switch like the LHY that @audiom3 mentioned. I figure I will first try and understand the options a bit and see what makes most sense based on the options available and how much potential SQ gain I might get from it relative to where I land now with the 10GTeks/Finisar/Corning. Thanks for all the very useful advice I have got here.
  3. Perhaps you can, but it didn't appear that way to me when I looked yesterday. That's why I figured that I needed the 10GTeks. The opening for the SFP in the MC220CM seems wider and different than the one in 10GTek from photos too - see links below. And I have never tried pulling anything out of the TP-Link. The Finisairs which I have received didn't look like they would fit in the TP-Link when I looked yesterday. When the 10GTek shows up today I will take another look. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1568454-REG/tp_link_mc200cm_gigabit_multi_mode_media_converter.html?msclkid=d4e74930b8fc19816e9f2f292941f1e8 https://www.cdw.com/product/tp-link-gigabit-sfp-fiber-media-converter/3280326?cm_ven=acquirgy&cm_cat=bing&cm_pla=NA-NA-TP-Link_NE&cm_ite=3280326&s_kwcid=AL!4223!10!73736269707892!73736164072284&ef_id=eff979a5631a158766951fbcf2237647:G:s Thanks
  4. Thanks, thats a bit disappointing to hear. Maybe I read more than I should have into the earlier remarks about Finisair etc or maybe just misunderstood them! I guess I will just have to wait to see how it all works out.
  5. Hi @SQFIRST I thought I understood from the discussion earlier on in this thread that having the Finisair FTLF1318P3BTLs would give me substantially better optical isolation than the TP-Links that I am currently using. Am I wrong on that? I wasn't really asking any new questions as I thought that to be the case based on how I read various people's experience here, so I decided to make the change on that basis.
  6. Thanks a lot for the SQ insights @audiobomber. And yes, I do plan to use an Uptone JS-1 to feed both the 10GTeks. For the moment I am using this same Uptone on my two connected TP-Link MC220CM FMC units. These TP-Links will be replaced with the two 10GTeks fitted with the Finisair FTLF1318P3BTLs and connected using the Corning bend-insensitive connecting cable.
  7. Okay very good to know. I'll be careful about this. Thanks John @Assisi
  8. Thanks again @audiom3. I might try the SpeedyFiber at some point. I assume it is much better than the ClearCurve.
  9. @audiom3 Thank you! This is incredibly helpful. I ordered two 10GTeks and plan to use them with a pair of Finisar FTLF1318P3BTL. For an optical cable I ordered this 1m LC-LC Duplex 9/125um Corning ClearCurve Single Mode Bend Insensitive Fiber which I read about further up in this overall thread. https://www.ebay.com/itm/332640995810 Actually I also also saw this Brand New Cisco SFP-10G-AOC1M 10GBASE-AOC SFP+ Cable 1 Meter: https://www.ebay.com/itm/116084899540 I believe I understood also above that some people think this Cisco AOC is better than the Finisairs with cable. Is that right?
  10. Also, if there is another converter that performs better that info would be much appreciated.
  11. Hello: I am wondering whether anyone could please tell me if this pair of Open SFP Slot 1.25G/s Gigabit Fiber Ethernet Media Converters that I found on Amazon will work for a pair of Finisar FTLF1318P3BTL that I just acquired? AMAZON LINK https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C2TC91X3/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3DVPBHCZB4LFA&th=1 Thanks very much
  12. Thank you both @Jud and @John Hughes. Those are very helpful comments. I will keep an eye out for AtmaSphere, especially for when Ralph Karstens might be able to get around to offering a multi-channel Class D GAN amp. I had asked him about that on an Audiogon blog a few months ago and he said that it could be a bit before he got to multichannel. BTW the Linkwitz needs 10 channels! And yes, Jud, I also asked Tibor his ball-park estimate of the expected life-span of the Purifi components, and he said something similar to your remark - the lower heat produced by Class D should in theory mean a long/longer life. BTW I have had experience of the long life of Spectrals myself. I have had several myself, and one, the oldest which I bought new 33 years ago, is now still in use by a friend!
  13. @John Hughes Just checking what you made of the Atma-Sphere amp so far. Has it arrived? @Jud I'm interested in the Apollon multi-channel amp for my multi-amped Linkwitz521.4 speakers. Tibor thinks they would be ideal. I wonder what the life expectation of Class D amps would be? I mean should it be the same as, or less or more than solid state amps. Thanks
  14. To be frank my whole apartment is one floor. I have never heard a complaint from downstairs though. I don't think I would though. I could however feel a bit of bass on the floor under my feet before I got the podiums and now I don't. So that's something. My impression of the action of the springs is that nothing could pass through. I understand that springs isolate in both directions - what is placed on top isolate from what is underneath and vice versa - in other words it goes two ways. That is how it strikes me from other springs I use elsewhere in my system set-up too. It's actually what Max Townshend says about these podiums and he does know a thing or two more about springs than I do. That's as much as I can say. So hope it is helpful. Perhaps I should have qualified my original statement a bit.
