  1. Looking for 40% what I paid Small Green Computer to make. Has 256Gb SSD, 4 Gb Memory, Windows 7 64 bit, JRMC 20, Black, Intel Atom 1.8Ghz Flawless performance and condition. Upgrading to new Baetis product. Send PM for pics or questions Thanks, Tom
  2. any early opinion on which usb cable mates best with Berkeley USB +DAC?
  3. what is the best usb cable to feed Berkeley USB converter (which is connected to Berkeley DAC via MIT oracle MA-X AES) tx for your opinion, tw.
  4. dennis, this helps. when said and done, will music server path ever sound as good as cd path? server path will = macbook---WWplatinum----bada-usb converter--- MIT oracle MAx proline adjustible---bada dac. cd path = meridian g98--bada dac. these are played directly, w/o preamp, to classe omicron --rockport ankaas and jlaudio subs. cabling when not mentioned = transparent. at present, with generic usb cable, cd much more dimensional. tx tw
  5. Where are we today? Best USB2 cable for 192 kHz? To run from macbookpro to Berkeley USB converter to Berkeley DAC? tx, tw
  6. Redbook CD to Berkeley DAC--more dimensional, presence, clear. Whereas, Macbook/Berkeley USB to Berkeley DAC--more flat. To improve, what steps should I take next? Path for audio files = AIFF, macbookpro, Amarra and PM, generic USB2, BADA-converter, MIT AES oracle max proline adjustible, BADA-DAC. Path for CD = Meridian g98, transparent spdif, BADA-DAC. Then both to Classe omicron, Rockport ankaa's, JLaudio subs, transparent cabling. tx, tw
  7. ? any ideas on best solution or rearrangement ? Computer room = Dell570,7pro + Macpro,itunes/amarra + Drobo +TC/AE Stereo room = Berkeley, Classe omicron x2, Rockport ankaa Unfortunately about 30 feet apart! Mike Ritter of Berkeley said this about upcoming usb2/aes converter i ordered: "We are currently developing an external USB2 to AES3 converter that will provide up to 192 kHz, 24 bit signals to the Alpha DAC with very high noise isolation and very low jitter. It will function asynchronously, work with Macs and PC’s". So i have been holding off on lynx. Throughput replicated from CA academy article on "CD/rip/strategy/method" thanks for this! it works! Other Berkeley feeds are 1. Meridian disc to its SPDIF and 2. wireless Airfoil to its Toslink. tx, tw
  8. 1. do you make folders for backups, sending when cd is first ripped, or sending later when in itunes? have you ever seen some library management program installed on drobo that could make things easier? 2. this way looks good. i was loosing functionality when library moved with other manuevers. tx tw
  9. what a great article for those of us without computer background. thanks for the hard work. have replicated. 1. Regarding Flac archive copies in NAS, ? how to organize, ? use a library. I have Drobo, and am seeing long list of track folders, not grouped or separated into albums. 2. How to get AIFF to "media" drive? I have mac OS on SSD (240gb) in one bay of Macpro and wish to use second, larger HD (2tb) in another bay for library. Successful only when AIFF went to iTunes media folder on OS-SSD drive. But not successful in sending AIFF to any folder (music, itunes, media) moved to the second, larger HD. (Players are iTunes, Amarra on pro. Ripper is dbpaweramp on Dell 570, 7 pro.) tx tom
