  1. I don't know how true it is but I read mix reviews about the product, so I got a second hand Mac Mini instead which I am hoping will do what I need.
  2. Does anyone if this streamer is any good? My main use is for streaming music from my NAS in a single room with maybe the addition of a streaming service. Not seen the IOS app but hoping it's pretty decent.
  3. I am new here (so be gentle) but I am glad I started reading this thread & a few others today, I was nearly going to get a Connect myself but think I will hold that thought I think, maybe disappointed. I have actually had the Bluesound Node myself for about four months so I know exactly what its good points and not so good points are if anyone wants to know. For the moment I think I will just stick to my Macbook Air into my DAC until I get a Mac Mini using my existing Jriver software which I enjoy using on my iPad.
  4. At the moment I am running Jriver from my laptop through my Dac into my stereo with 2TB external HD connected to my laptop. I am very new to all this and some of it's going over my head right now. I am looking for the easier solution to play my music without having to see loads of wires and boxes around the place. Would like the option of hard wired for best quality and wireless streaming if both is possible. Most of my files are Flac,AIFF from ripped CDs and a few mp3s. Would like to have the Nas and the laptop out of site but sure how I would connect the Dac to the Hifi if it's to far away. Any help would really be appreciated.
  5. Hi guys. I was wondering if I could ask some entry level questions, hope you don't mind! I have a normal audio system which I am happy with however I need to be able to link music from my Mac Laptop from time to time. Historically I have been using external audio interfaces however I believe I am not getting the best out of them for what I am using it for this is why I thought about going down the stand alone DAC route. 1. Does the chip define the quality of sound 2. Are the bit/sampling rates the same across the board ie: 24bit/192khz 3. If the DAC is run on USB is there enough power or do they come with external power supplies. 4. Is the sampling and bit rate automatically set at the highest setting or is it played back at the recorded file setting, like 16bit/44100khz 5. Can I run my turntable into and record into my laptop 6. I have seen some DACs on Fleebay (via China) which are not flash but seem to have good specs are they decent for entry level items
