  1. Gilbert is not done. I was at Absolute Sound in Chatham Ontario and Mike was playing some of Gilbert’s new products including a DAC, Integrated amplifier and new Preamp. I believe these were designed for AS specifically. It’s just not Blue Circle company any more. Saturn Audio also has some new product designed by Gilbert.
  2. Hi Alex thanks for both replies. I did hook up the SMS-200 to SBOOSTER and both light up. Uses exactly the same barrel. Only difference is that on the 200, barrel goes 80/90% and on the MMK 100% depth wise. So maybe it’s something that came off. Appreciate any guidance as to what to look for first, or do I have to start from scratch? Ed
  3. Hello, I just finished installing the MMK on my 2011 mini. Plugged into an Sbooster set at 12V (3A) and the sbooster keeps shutting down and the mini does not power up. As soon as I slightly remove the connector from the back of the mini, sboosters powers up again. Looks like it shorting out? Only installed the one nut in the back to hold the main connection. I use the Sbooster on my SMS-200 with no issues. The only piece left over is the tiny white plastic washer, that somehow got missed. Any idea on where to start and what to look for? I'm at a total loss. Appreciate any input. Alex > sent in an email on this, but not sure when someone will look at it. Ed
  4. Spotify HD Hello, own a D1+Sbooster. Signed up for the 30 day trial to try out Spotify HD. There was some mention of Lumin upgrading/supporting the new format prior to end of 2020, but can't find any further updates. So, enabled Spotify on D1. Log on and changed Audio Quality to Very High. I'm able to select music in the HD folder and it plays with no issues. However, the display on the D1 remains as 320K like everything else. I don't see any where to select HD as an option. I don't notice any sonic improvements. Am I missing something or has perhaps Lumin not as yet released an update to Spotify HD? I had tried it Mac mini > sms200 > dac and pretty sure a Spotify HD window came up. But before and take my system apart again, I would ask for clarification. Firmware 13.3, Stotify 3.110.44, App 8.6.14.1422 I have tried logging off all devices and power reboot to equipment. Is anyone successfully getting Spotify HD on their Lumin? Thanks in advance, Ed
  5. A little Guidance please. Hope this is the right thread. I just ordered an EtherRegen, which should arrive by the end of the month. As a background, I purchased a Bryston 3.14 steamer/dac. It will only receive DSD via USB input. I was hoping to use my Sony HAP-Z1es, but it does not want to work. DSD plays fine, but internet radio, cpm etc all I get is loud white noise. So, back to a Mac mini currently used as computer. Plan to pick up a 2018 model and use it or current 2011 (perhaps add MMK) model for music only. Purchased Audirvana which I quite like. Dug out original sotm sms-200. I have been able to send music via dlna? to the Bryston, a first for me. I'm not interested in Roon, Tidal etc. just internet radio and perhaps Spotify if it goes to cd quality. It appears that people are evenly split between sotm sms-200/Ultra/Neo etc and the UltraRendu. For those using the sotm do you still need/use the Iso Regen before your dac or does the EtherRegen take care of that? Now I have a chance to trade my sms-200 for an sms-ultra for a used unit at a reasonable price. The trade or a new ultrarendu will cost the same. My understanding is that the ultrarendu has regen module built in. It also talks to Audirvana and has support to Spotify. Does the MMK mod only help if the mini is in the stereo rack or also on a dlna set up. Any preference ? Not sure if I should keep the music mini next to dac or other room. Musically what have you found. Thank you for your time.
  6. Reformated the external drive to NTFS. Apple recognizes the drive, but will not write to it. Reformated this time to exFAT. IMac sees it and I was able to copy all of my music to the drive to be used with the sms-200. Ran Dougs sripts with some mixed results. Using Finder in the iMac, I was able to verify that a .jpg cover art file was created. However it was artist, album.jpg and not just folder.jpg. I verified that some of my rips (DSD) have a 'folder.jpg' file. Even with both types of .jpg files as described, I still get zero cover art. I'm at a total loss as to what else to try. Is there any type of memory thing that needs to be purged? No matter what I try, I get the same results, and it appears I'm alone with outcome. As a recap, all I'm trying to accomplish is to use my music files with cover art created on an iMac external drive to a second external drive that Soudirok will display album cover art from the usb drive connected to the sms-200. I get music ok, but 100% blank cover art. Soundirok says they are not familiar with the sms-200.
  7. Thanks for the warning. I don't think this is going to work either, as the scrips only work in iTunes and within the Mac. The main external drive (WD-music) with the music isn't recognized by the sms-200 in that it's looking for a FAT formated drive. The drive (WD-FAT) music copy which is FAT formatted can't run the scrips. Please correct me if I am wrong. I now also have a Windows 10 laptop and I have downloaded a trial copy of Jriver. Jriver recognizes the music and displays the cover art on the the laptop. Is there a way to somehow save this to the WD-FAt drive, so that the sms-200 will be able to use it? If not, how would you start from scratch? I can certainly reformat the WD-FAT. What would be the safest way to again transfer exiting music to this drive and how to obtain missing art cover, without having to rerip 14000 tracks. Thanks.
  8. Clothears > thank you for clarifying that you are using JRiver. I understand the need to have the cover art on it's own folder. I will look into JRiver as an alternative for me. Bmoregnr > I think you nailed the issue. It looks like the album art is burried within iTunes and only referenced when needed. Ironically, I also have a Sony HAP-Z1es, and it recognized or rebuilt the artwork from the iTunes library. I came across the 'doug script' solution as well and will see if that works. If not I will probably get a second Sony and forget the sms-200. Thanks all for your assistance.
  9. Not quite. WD T3 directly connected to the sms-200. Soundirok, from iPad sees and plays the albums ok, but I get zero cover art. Same set up as ClothEars, but I don't believe he uses iTunes. The WD has an exact copy of my itunes set up on the iMac. I'm trying to eliminate any computer in the music chain. I'm willing to move to something other than iTunes for library management and ripping, but want somrthing that works, hence my question .
  10. ClothEars and Krutsch thanks for your input. What software are you using or suggest as an alternative to iTunes, for a direct conection of a USB to the sms-200 using Soundirok. My only computer is an iMac. I'm an older guy and no longer computer savy, so some simple to follow instructions is much appreciated.
  11. Looks great, but I can't seem to repeat it. I have an sMS-200, with an attached WD drive powered by it's own walwart power supply. I copied my entire iTunes library to the WD. The music plays fine and even the Journal option displays all the additional information, but I get ZERO art work. I have tried changing the Collection URL to duplicate the iTunes, the Cover Filename to 'album artwork.jpg' to duplicate the iTunes name, but to no avail. I did contact Daniel and he responded right away. As per his suggestion, I did delete the Cover Script URL, but still no go. Mr. ClothEars, would you mind explaining what you did in order to get your art work displayed. Looks like we have similar set ups. Much appreciated. Eduard
  12. audio.bill and likearollingstone thanks for your responses. I did do one cycle and did not fix it. Did a second cycle and left it unplugged for awhile and it liked it the second time. Perhaps I did not remove the power cord out far enough on my initial try. Sorry for the long delay in response, but I decided to move all of the internal music to the external drive. Due to various interruptions, it took over 4 days to get it done. I forced new music to external drive only as I plan on replacing the internal with a 2T drive. Anyway everything is working perfectly. I'm happy again, thanks.
  13. Tried USB to a Peachtree-300 last week and they sound very similar. So one would have to go to a higher end dac.
