  1. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. After trying everything, I've had not luck getting CDs to play in their native sample rate on the PS3.
  2. I'm just trying to play regular CDs (wish I still had an SACD capable PS3). And yes I've run through the PS3 Audio setup indicating a TOSLink connection and using higher sampling rates. I'm not trying to get the PS3 to play higher sampling rates, just the native sampling rate of of a CD at 44.1kHz.
  3. After giving up on my buggy and practically useless Cambridge network player, I decided to pull out my CD collection and use a gaming console as my primary player. The only problem is my PS3 slim will only output 48kHz, according to my DacMagic. I'm running an HDMI cable from my PS3 to my Television, then outputting audio via optical cable to the DacMagic. I've also wired the PS3 directly to the dac and it still outputs to 48kHz. I've also tried to disable 48Hz output in the settings of PS3, but that option is greyed out. Also, when I attempt to play CD audio the dad will quickly switch sampling frequencies for a split second, but then inevitable switch to 48kHz once the track starts playing. Anyone else have a similar experience or any suggestions? Let me know if this post should be on another board.
  4. Hi guys, I've been using A+ to convert my SACD.iso backups to .flac files. Unfortunately, my network player can't play 88.2kHz files, so A+(which is a great program for everything else) can't get me what I want. I have since discovered Saracon, which looks like it might be able to provide me with 24/96 files. However, I don't know how to mount/load/open my SACD.iso files. When I attempt a DSD to PCM conversion it asks for a .dff file. How can I produce a .dff file from my SACD.iso files? Or do I have to use a different program to convert my SACD.iso files to a PCM format?
  5. Thanks again for all the help, but unfortunately this doesn't appear to work for my NP30. If I had my DAC hooked up to A+, it would work, but not with the NP30 in the chain.
  6. Thanks, David, now I understand how all that proxy file stuff works now. When I play the proxy file on A+, it plays a resolution of 24/176. When I play it on the NP30... the player crashes I guess I'll have to hold out for a software solution from Damien, or invest in some new hardware. Damn these technologies! I'm getting a gramophone.
  7. No luck. With the proxy settings at "proxy only" the file ends up being only 400kb with a sample rate of 44.1. Damien has been emailed, and I'll share the results with this thread. I really enjoy my NP30, but this missing sample rate is a pain.
  8. Thanks for the advice, David. Unfortunately, I'm still ending up with 88.2 files. I did what you suggested, however when I "add files to iTunes" there is no 96kHz sample rate option. I've attached a screen cap to show you what's available. I'll try emailing Damien and let you guys know if I find a solution.
  9. Hi guys, Unfortunately my Cambridge Audio NP30 won't play the 24 bit/88.2 or 24 bit/176 kHz .aif files I created from my SACD rips (using Audirvana), but it has no problem playing 24/96. Can Audirvana create 24/96 audio files? And if so, how should I set up Audirvana to do so? I've literally spent 5 hours scouring forums to find info, and haven't found anything. So, if I'm missing something obvious, please be gentle.
  10. Hello everyone, I just received my M10 case. I purchased a slimline slotloading ODD, but the eject button for the odd was on the right side. One major problem: The M10's eject button is on the left side. I know Chris recommends the Pioneer DVR-TS08 for the CAPS--I'm not sure why, but he probably has good reasons. I'm looking at photos of the DVR-TS08 and it looks like the eject button is also on the right side. Am I missing something? Is there a magic part that allows the right-sided eject button function with the M10's left-sided button? Or are there other ODDs that will work with the M10? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
  11. Eloise,<br /> <br /> What is your opinion on the sound quality from the MoBo USB to a DacMagic? Would I be able to avoid the issues arising from the poor quality in the mobo's audio interface?
  12. Thanks for the advice, fellas. Just a few more questions: 1) Will the M10's own PSU function with either of the ASUS boards? I'm assuming that a MoBo with a 24pin power connector will be able to utilize the the M10's display and PSU. 2) I have a DacMagic. So if I just settle on the MoBo and the M2Tech HiFace I should good, right? 3) Where can I buy the HiFace in North America (preferably a Canadian retailer)? 4) Would this setup meet Chris's CAPS standards?
  13. I'm also a music server DIY noob, although I've done a ton of research (all theory no practice). So, I'm going to defer to the experts. I've ordered the OrigenAE M10 case, which should be arriving shortly. I'm absolutely intent on using this case, as its aesthetic appeal is very high-end. I am, however, flexible on the MoBo and sound card (as flexible as my pocketbook allows). I'm not concerned about video content capabilities, just sound. Right now I'm looking at an ASUS At3ION-I MoBo (I want to use the M10's display and external PSU, and I believe this MoBo fits the bill). The problem arises once the sound card is thrown into the mix. Chris's essay on the CAPS has convinced me that a sound card is essential, so I won't be relying on the Mobo's S/Pdif. So, Chris has now blessed two affordable ASUS sound cards (good job!). Imagine my excitement. However, the AT3ION has a PCIe slot, so the ASUS STX card is a good choice. The rear of M10 has a vertical slot for a PCI expansion. I don't suppose the Asus STX will fit. Okay, enough rambling... Can I use the AT3ION with the STX sound card in the M10 case? If not, can you kind folks suggest an alternative? Again, I want to use the M10 to its full capacity (display, psu) Thanks in advance!
