You can get great sound from either, set up correctly. I prefer a windows based system, having just moved from a Mac Mini but that is preference. I think my windows machine sound better than my Mini. If you're not liking the sound of your system, there are probably bigger fish to fry, so to speak.

The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story box set has a couple of 24 bit recordings of the Bruce and the band from 1976-1978 that are pretty great.

I downloaded the DSD from Acoustic Sounds yesterday . . . after two listens, I'm pretty impressed.
