  1. I uploaded the firmware via a PC Laptop and rehooked the DAC to my mac mini and so far, so good. Hi-resolution files are playing and sounding fantastic. Thanks!
  2. Hi John, here's my setup. 2010 Mac Mini with 8 GB of RAM connected to DAC*iT via Wireworld USB, Optical, and HDMI which is then connected to a Denon AVR 3310CI Receiver. -I have installed the 10.7.1 update and done more testing. iTunes only and USB output: -Settings/Sound set to Peachtree USB DAC -Audio MIDI set to USB output 2 channel 24 bit/44.1 Khz **44.1/48/96Khz music files will play** -Settings/Sound set to Peachtree USB DAC -Audio MIDI set to USB output 2 channel 24 bit/48 Khz **44.1/48/96Khz music files will play** -Settings/Sound set to Peachtree USB DAC -Audio MIDI set to USB output 2 channel 24 bit/96 Khz **44.1/48/96Khz music files will not play. Double clicking on song in iTunes brings up the little speaker icon indicating playing next to song title but in the play window the song timer never moves off of "0"** Thanks!
  3. I just received the new DAC*iT from Peachtree Audio and was totally excited to put it through it's paces when my mac mini started acting up. Ever since I installed Lion, I'm having problems with my external USB hard drives. Sometimes they don't show up on the desktop but exist in the finder. Sometimes I try and move files from the HD to the desktop and they copy and then vanish after complete. This has been a problem with Lion and there's actually quite a few forum topics discussing this problem. For those of us with most of our media stored on external drives, this is a BIG problem. Anyways, the first song I played through the new DAC was Lovesong by Adele off her 21 album. The file was ALAC, 16bit/44Khz and I use both Pure Music and Decibel. It sounded fantastic. Big difference from my MF V-DAC. Airy, clear, nice rich bass. I could hear fingers scrape across guitar strings which I couldn't before. Fantastic. Then I tried to play a 24bit/96Khz song and it totally locked up and wouldn't play through Decibel, Pure Music or iTunes. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm using a USB connection and it's seriously bumming me out because I have a LOT of high resolution audio. **Update. Just hooked up my optical cable between the DAC and the Mac Mini and it's now playing the high resolution files. It doesn't like the USB hook up which is strange. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
  4. My Mini is very slimmed down. It has very little loaded or running and has 4GB RAM
  5. I am using a brand new Mac Mini (4GB RAM running OS 10.6.5) to run primarily FLAC audio tracks to my stereo system’s preamp, a McIntosh MX132 via the TOSLINK digital audio out. The problem is that at the end of every song, it seems like the Mac Mini stops sending the audio signal to the preamp during the “gap” between songs, as evidenced by the L/R audio input indicator lights on the front of the preamp going out. This seems to make the preamp temporarily lose sync (I don’t know if that’s correct) with the Mac Mini. When the next song starts, it takes about 1-2 seconds to re-establish the sync (i.e., for the indicator lights come back on on the preamp) and so I don’t hear the first second or so of that next song. This problem happens with both FLAC and ALAC files using Songbird and iTunes. It also happened when I used the VLC player software. I am using two other TOSLINK audio inputs from my DVD player and Cable TV box, both with no problems. I have changed out the TOSLINK cables and switched the Mac audio output into the other 2 preamp TOSLINK inputs with no success. Also, I tried a 3.5mm-to-dual RCA splitter and ran the analog audio out from the Mac Mini's headphone jack and it works fine. So the issue is only with the TOSLINK digital/optical output. I have tried different software audio players (iTunes, Songbird, VLC) and this happens with all 3. I have also tried both ALAC and FLAC files, which play fine on another computer (i.e., the song files definitely are OK). I have also tried “gapless” playback and this does not solve the problem. I've researched this online and can't find anyone with a similar problem. I'm hoping it's just something simple I'm overlooking. I have tried playing with the gapless and crossfade settings in iTunes but I think the issue is either with the audio out from the Mac Mini or how the preamp is handling the audio input via Toslink. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
