  1. Based on comments on this thread - I have decided to sell my iMac (17 days old - since I cant return it) and get a new one with SSD. Any one want a deal? I can offer it for $3300 - $300 off the original price.
  2. Are you saying SSD makes a difference?
  3. any recommendations on an online dealer for the Focal speakers?
  4. Thank you guys for all the feedback. But I need someone to talk to me like 7 year old...:-) I think I am going to redefine my short term requirements - I would like to setup a 2.1 sound system using my iMac or have the ability to play off my iPod - I need suggestions for: Cabling - what kind of cables should buy - name etc.. I think I need a DAC - and I am leaning towards the iNova... And I guess I need recommendations on speakers... For the future I guess I can add something like a sonos and expand. Thanks again for your help.
  5. so far I have: iMac->Firewire(what kind should I get)->Peachtree iNova->Speaker (again need recommendations)
  6. No SSD for me...maybe I should have gotten it. :-) Just to clarify... how would i connect the iMac to the iNova? USB or Optical and what brand... When I do add in the Sonos later does it get added in before or after the iNova... does the above make sense? What speakers do you recommend? No need for tubes... I do need a headhphone output Yes to Hi Rez... Thanks for your help.
  7. I just acquired an 2.93GHZ QuadCore iMac with 16GB RAM. I would like to use it as my music server. I have also bought the Time Capsule 1TB with 802.11n. Thats what I have... My future vision is to have multi-room wireless audiophile quality sound system. For now I want to start with setting up a sound system for my bedroom which will also have the iMac. I can not spend in the 10s of thousands but would like to build something that costs less than 5k. Any suggestions on cables, dacs, wireless sound systems will be much appreciated.
