I've recently purchased a nice stereo setup for myself and now I am wondering how to get the most out of it. At the moment, I have a peachtree Audio Nova connected to Magnepan MMGs. The amp is connected to an airport express that wirelessly streams from my laptop via toslink.
This seemed like the best quality solution as I already own a airport express and it was cheaper than a large USB cable that would allow me to use my laptop while listening to music.
But I've recently purchased Airfoil for Mac to listen to other stuff outside of itunes and discovered airfoil speakers which allows me to stream music to another computer. If I used this setup, I have an old laptop with a broken video card that I can send music to via airfoil, which it will then send via usb to the DAC.
Would this be a better solution? or would it add an extra layer of complexity/noise etc to the sound?
