1. BTW, it looks like HDTracks added three more Living Stereo SACD downloads today: * Beethoven & Mendelssohn: Violin Concertos - Heifetz * Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade - Reiner/CSO * Sibelius, Prokofiev, Glazunov: Violin Concertos - Heifetz
2. I recently did some research regarding the RCA Living Stereo SACDs. Here is what I learned: * Between 2004 and 2007, BMG Classics released 54 Living Stereo hybrid SACDs. * Material from approx 100 records was used, roughly a third of which were only partially issued. * Most of the source recordings were originally released as Living Stereo titles. * LSC-1900 Berlioz/Munch, never issued as an original LSC, was used. * Half a dozen Victrolas were used. * A couple titles only issued later by RCA (AGL series) were used. According to my research, RCA released around 430 Living Stereo classical (LSC) records before using Dynagroove. You can see a discography of all the records, cross referenced to the SACD titles, here: Shaded Dog - A website devoted to collectors of RCA Living Stereo classical records
3. I did a quick review of the PS Audio NuWave DAC and compared it to its predecessor, the PS Audio Digital Link III, which I had been using with the Musical Fidelity V-LINK 192 USB/SPDIF converter. I found the NuWave to be a small but real step up. See details here: http://www.dailyaudiophile.com/ps-audio-nuwave-dac-review-on-daily-audiophile/
4. Great post, Chris. I've had a few nights like this, although not recently enough. The best party music I own is on a pair of Meters records from the late '60s. Their self-titled and Look-Ka Py Py albums are terrific for parties. Highly recommended!
5. Enjoy the Music.com has published a new article on PC audio by Daniel Weiss of Weiss Engineering. It covers the basics of jitter, digital level control, dithering, ripping, etc. See it here: * Music Playback From A Computer – The Audiophile's Concerns: http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/manufacture/1208 Might be worth a look for those just starting out on their PC audio journeys. 7. Quadruple boot? That is a major achievement. I can't imagine how long it took you to set up and configure everything. I run a dual boot with Windows XP and OS X on my MacBook Pro, and I thought that setup was cutting edge! Congrats!

Mark Wieman
http://www.dailyaudiophile.com
8. What I love about this approach (Mac Mini + External HD + iPod Touch) is not only its simplicity, but its flexibility. Each of the devices in this system can be re-purposed in any number of ways if the owner ever decides to try something different. This cannot be said of media-server-in-a-box solutions. 9. Roman, I think your classical music perspective is preventing you from seeing this issue in its entirety. For most traditional acoustic music, I think your desire for high-quality, live-to-broadcast streaming is justified. For other, more modern genres of music, studio edits are themselves forms of expression and are critical to the musician's final vision of how listeners should experience the music.
