  1. after reading some of the thread I still don't get why you don't make a downloadable image file of 2.5 available for us. the argument of a $20 fee for the latest firmware on an already purchased $600 piece of hardware aside. it just feels so wrong to send a digital file through the snail mail and pollute our planet with wasted SD cards and exhaust gasses. you guys may make good sounding streamers but this sucks. disappointed!
  2. This product looks good. I would like to run on wifi, though. What would be the equivalent in this price category (a wifi enabled Roon endpoint)? Currently using a Raspberry Pi3 (which is not bad) but would like something audio grade.
  3. Thanks guys, this confirms what I was thinking. I am indeed trying to protect against theft, accidental deletion, or the NAS going haywire for whatever reason. Am running RAID 5. Will put a 2nd NAS in another part of the house. Thanks again.
  4. What is the best way (how pro's do it for SME's) for backing up the contents of a NAS? Would it be a second NAS in a different location (room/building), set up with remote reapplication (continually mirrored copy)? Thanks
  5. and another question, I have relatively long and detailed genre names. will these be easily visible via a type of 'list view' within the genres tab in the app? I have seen only screenshots of genres as icons, which might make it difficult.
  6. Hi all, I have a huge library, and often add new albums, almost on a daily basis. How does this work for the aurender in terms of time taken for the new additions to be visible on the device? Both via external NAS library and internal HD library? Copying the music to NAS or aurender HD I guess is a quick and simple process, however how long does for the unit take to re-scan the entire library to see what changes are made?
  7. I have been wondering this myself ever since the introduction of these transports. Stopping me from moving away from my mac mini. Really hoping to start seeing this feature soon however I am not holding my breath...
  8. Thanks for the replies. I guess it sounds like Rob has invented a "perfect" volume control. In a way hard to believe, but I do not have the technical expertise to challenge his claims. Reason why I am interested in this is that I have just mated a new high-gain power amp (35dB) to my highly efficient speakers (95dB) so I am running the Hugo turned WAY down, into the maroon to yellow region (-39dB to -30dB of attenuation). As I am unfamiliar with the power amp's sonic characteristic, I am not able to determine if there is any loss in fidelity due to the attenuation.
  9. I cannot find any specifics on it other than "advanced reference-grade digital volume control that does not lose bits". Does it operate at 32bit? How many dB can I attenuate 16bit PCM before I start loosing bits? What attenuation levels do the various colors correspond to? Wish chord would have published a white paper on this or included more details in their technical masterclass PPT. Any info is appreciated!
  10. Just realised the apple IR remote up/down arrows control A+ volume control (and in 0.5dB steps), PERFECT!
  11. bug: cannot remove a folder from the library list if it has been renamed. in my case i changed my folder setup on a mounted folder on external nas and now cannot get rid of these from A+. guess I will need to move back to old folder setup to remove these folders then go back to new and re-add in A+.
  12. Also, something perhaps not as straightforward to fix, is the fact that using plugins in live edit mode crashes the software. Has happened with my EQ plugin FabFilter ProQ but also simple apple defaut AU EQ filters. It's nice to be able to tweak EQ live during playback however now I need to stop and start the music to make EQ changes. Thanks.
  13. Damien - Appreciate if you could fix the following bug which is preventing me from using A+ in standalone mode. When folders are added to the library that contain characters such as '[' or '-' these folders do not appear on the library folder list, however these folders do get added to the visible music library. This makes it hard to re-sync these folders if new music has been added. Thanks a lot.
  14. are these lines of logic getting a bit out of hand or is it me?
