  1. But how does inserting a converter into the chain affect the overall sound? I'm one to go the path of least resistance and placing one more electronic device into the path just doesn't seem like a clean option. I'd prefer to sell the Benchmark and try another device that allows a true signal path from ADC to the Mac.
  2. Hi Eloise, I think your right about the limitations with the Benchmark ADC1. Although the Benchmark is a great ADC, it has it's limited. I like what I read about the RME and think I'll investigate that a bit more. Frustrating as all this is... what fun!
  3. Perhaps in the future, AD Converters will incorporate Thunderbolt into the equation. Seems a bit backwards that other than the Mac Pro, nothing in the Mac lineup has connectivitiy for higher res than USB 2.0.
  4. Sorry if this topic has been discussed in the past, and if so, please link to the thread. Here's the deal. I'm transferring my vinyl collection to digital files. I'm well aware of the debate between 24/96 and 24/192 file sizes, but I'd like to get the largest file size possible, so I'm choosing to go the 24/192 route. I have a Benchmark ADC1 and a Mac Mini. The output from the ADC1 is SPDIF and USB (No Firewire out). My Mac Mini has USB and Firewire (no SPDIF). Benchmark lists the ADC1 as 192khz capable, but with SPDIF out. If I'm using the USB, I can only expect 24/96 as the max file size. So with this current configuration, am I limited to only 24/96? Can you suggest an alternative if indeed I need one? Sell the Benchmark and get a different interface? Options? Thanks in advance.
