In re-reading the email I received from Amarra, it seems that they needed some information from me by the 15th of April (today), not that the software was going to be released on that day... DUH! Sorry, I should have paid better attention in school when they were teaching us to read! Peace, Lee

Headphone experience with Little Dot Mk III
CryoParts replied to blueheronhollow's topic in Headphones & Speakers
The Little Dots do well with Senn HD6xx's, and other high impedance cans, I wood probably pick something else up to drive the lower impedance cans, at least to my ears. I still have a MKIVSE around here somewhere...I've had almost every amp in the LD lineup, over the years. Peace, Lee -
Home Headphome amp for Ultrasone Edition 8
CryoParts replied to agentsmith's topic in Headphones & Speakers
The RSA Apache is a fantastic amp, well worth the price of admission, IMHO. Runs the HD800's, ED8's, ED10's, HD6xx's, ED9's, and the all other cans I have with aplomb. Plus, Ray is a true gentleman, and his customer service is fantastic. Another few options are one of the upper Eddie Current amps, the Burson (disclaimer--I am a dealer for Burson), or one of the upper priced Woo's. But, if I was forced to only have one amp, it would be the Apache. Peace, Lee [edit-sorry, I just noticed the "might be too rich for my blood" comment above, all of the amps I mentioned above are pretty pricey, except for the Burson. Sorry, I'll read the posts more closely next time.] -
"had a Locus Design Axis here when I listened to the Diverter, and I felt the Starlight was the equal of the Axis, as any differences I thought that I heard seemed to dissappear with careful listening." You didn't have them there at the same time though. Glad to see there are a myriad of choices now in the USB cable arena, much different than four years ago when I started to make them. I talked with Joe at Nordost at RMAF about their USB cable, and from what he told me, I bet it Sounds pretty darn good! "But for now I am settling down and listening to music rather than gear!" That's what it is all about! You know you have reached a good place in audio when you stop thinking about the next upgrade. Peace, Lee

Antelope Zodiac + Arrived
CryoParts replied to hifitubes's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
"What specs say mini-B? Our website says Standard B Type." The imaginary specs in my head... I need to drink more coffee in the mornings, ha! I thought I read mini-b somewhere, but, I think it was my brain cloud. Peace, Lee -
Antelope Zodiac + Arrived
CryoParts replied to hifitubes's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
Hi Sanjay! I can't wait to get mine in, especially when the Voltikus arrives in January. Good news on the full size USB B input! The specs still say mini B, thanks for the heads up. Peace, Lee -
@MarkS--"...I just bought splits into two cables out of the dac, and I plug in into the mac mini twice (in two separate usb ports). I know of no other cable that does this..." There is also a USB cable by a company named Acoustic Revive that does this too, it's been out quite a while. The Acoustic Revive "theory" is that it totally keeps the data and +5 VDC (and ground) lines separate from the data +/- lines. However, the power and data lines still combine at the USB B end. I have no doubt that both the AR and Robert's cables are great. [edit]--I am impressed with the staying power of this thread I haven't been here in a while and was amazed to see this thread still being posted to, wow! Peace, Lee

I have the latest beta, it is coming along nicely. Last I heard, they have been really busy with the Vinyl program, but are looking to release the 2.1 update as soon as they can. When, I don't know, I'll ask and see what their ETA is. Peace, Lee

Any thoughts on Diverter 192 vs. Off-ramp 4?
CryoParts replied to DanH's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
Hello Everyone, The Diverter 192 is almost finished, we are planning to have the first production units start shipping in 3-4 weeks. So, no comparisons available yet. Should be a great winter for computer based audio with all the new USB to S/PDIF products being released! Peace, Lee -
Also, I have found that this FW800 to FW400 adapter to be well built, and work well: http://www.amazon.com/Sonnet-FireWire-400-Adapter-FAD-824/dp/B0000CDJPQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1290027873&sr=8-1 "I'm still looking for an 4>6or9pin adapter." Hifitubes (nice classified site btw), here is a 4 to 6 pin: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-Firewire-Female-Adapter/dp/B000234498/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1290028195&sr=8-3 Hope that helps someone. "I must have confused Cryoparts with another" Yes, I have two companies, CryoParts and Locus Design. I am only planning on releasing FW cables through Locus. FWIW--I have sold quite a few FW cables, and the feedback has been universally positive. So, take that for what it's worth, ie., subjective opinions from audio lovers who listen and trust their hearing. As far as The PFO reviewer under question, he merely reported what HE heard, in HIS system, at the time of the review. His conclusion was/is his opinion, nothing more, nothing less. I find him to be a skilled listener, with a very good system, and reports what he hears in an honest fashion. No review is gospel, folks, and please don't take them as such. I have no time, inclination, or emotional energy to get into a pissing match here about the cable making a difference. Buy one, don't buy one, whatever works for you and your budget. Also, I have heard good results about the Lacie FW cable--if you are looking to do FW on the cheap, this may be a good option to look into as an alternative to the Belden. Plus, the Lacie comes in a bright orange color, bonus, ha! Peace, Lee
