  1. Just visited hiface website and found they are selling their own clock too...anyone tried this clock? also the power supply?
  2. Just received all the pieces...the Evo, Belden 1800F, Oyaide d+ silver USB, the TeraDak power supply...and also a BNC/BNC word clock cable from Canare. The Evo is hooked up to my Emm Labs DCC2 SE via the 1800F AES/EBU. Once connected, the "Lock" light from DCC2 is on meaning it recognizes the signal from the source right away. (It didn't when I tried to connect the Cambridge Audio DACMagic before) Then I tried to connect the clock cable from DCC2 to Evo and was hoping some miracle...and as expected...out of luck. Again...I don't understand why the company design the clock part that no majority of people can use. Probably they need another product manager to understand more about the market out there. If they are planning to have a new Evo+ or Evo2 that can work with the normal word clock out there, I am willing to give a try for sure.
  3. Thanks Martin. You are right. I should test that too tonite. Just checked with the Troubleshooting page from m2tech, and found the following which is very similar to my case: Symptom: Sometimes, when I press play button, I hear a strong hiss instead of music. Cause: It’s a bug of the internal microcode found on very early production. Remedy: Require servicing for microcode update or unit replacement. I just emailed the dealer my situation and waiting for a response. Will see what happens.
  4. So finally I finished the moving and have a chance to hook up my system again as well as the hiface EVO the first time even I ordered and received it back in Jan. The first impression was extremely disappointed. I don't know what I did wrong, maybe some experts here can help me out here. I think I know what I am doing... All the connections look well, driver was downloaded a week ago so I assume it is up-to-date. My components: Mac mini 1.66GHz, 2GB RAM, 60GB HDD, with a NAS storing the music files, all wired network. No wireless. With iTunes and Amarra 2.1 Oyaide d+ USB cable Hiface EVO with TeraDak power supply Belden AES/XLR digital cable EMM Labs DCC2 SE interconnect to poweramp...the rest shouldn't be the issue as it plays fine with the CD transport. When I tried to play the first song, the music starts, I was happy. But after 10 seconds or so, a weird loud static pink noise which lasted for one second is presented on top of the music. And it comes back every 10-12 seconds. I stopped immediately and performed the following tests: Test 1: Rewinded the song to the point I heard the noise, and tried to play again, sometimes it happened at that point, sometimes no...and shifted to other points. But it came quite constantly every 10-12 seconds. Test 1.5: Copied the songs to Mac Mini local HDD. The same. Test 2: Turned off Amarra. Used iTunes only. The same. Test 3: Rebooted mac mini. (obvious tactics...) but unfortunately it's the same. Test 4: Turned everything off, back on. The same Test 5: Unhooked the mac mini. Hooked up a netbook with WinXP, downloaded the updated driver. Played a song thru foobar, the same. Then used MediaMonkey, the same. Surprise! It should isolate out that the issue shouldn't be caused by the Mac or iTunes or Amarra. Planned Test 6: Will get a 9V battery home tonite and try using battery instead of TeraDak. Will keep everyone posted. Any suggestion is welcome. Frustrating...
  5. Hi Matias, can you post a picture where to change the voltage inside the TeraDak? I opened mind last night and couldn't find where to change it. Thanks a lot!
  6. Thanks for your suggestion juliocat. Is it a sonic differences using between LifePO4 battery and Li-on battery? Do you know can I use normal battery charger for Li-On battery to charge LifePO4 battery??
  7. I can only find "Belden 1800F" and "Canare L-4E6S Star Quad" which can order with AES/EBU connector from the Balanced Audio Cables section. Can't find the no-BS option you mentioned. Is it one of them?
  8. It's good that to know you are using the similar gears from the same family. I believe you are using Toslink according to your signature. Have you tried using different kind of input (coax, AES/EBU, toslink) to your DAC2 and finally come up a winner with Toslink? What is the matched cable you are using now?
  9. Based on @crapperdapper comment, the evo is disappointing! I just ordered the EVO and planning to use it with my Emm Labs DCC2SE. I guess I will have no luck with the word clock from DCC2 to EVO. It's a shame to provide/design a function that no one can use easily.
