  1. Socrates7: Cool you made my choice much easier then! Ill go with the audioengine a5 and HRT musicstreamer II 2011 edition then. Nice christmas present to myself hehe. Thanks fellas!
  2. Socrates7: There is a big price difference between the HRT streamer II+ and the HRT streamer II 2011 edition. I don't think im willing to shell out for the II+ but is the difference huge? Remember I will be using it for Spotify which is 320 kbit/s using the Ogg Vorbis q9 codec so I think it might already be pearls for swine with the HRT Streamer II 2011 edition bikemig: Thats the thing though. I just want to make my computer a stereo. A squeezebox seem like a nice thing but im afraid it will just be another thing I wont use. Don't want to add more stuff to my stereo when I sit at my computer and listen to music anyway
  3. bikemig: I think the size of the A-5's wont be a problem. Maybe initially since I have a very small desk now but ill soon upgrade. So I think they are still my first pick. I can't find a retailer for the N-22 amp either. I live in Sweden. From what I have learned a DAC is basically a soundcard right? If so ill just get the idea of an internal soundcard out of my mind and focus on finding a good DAC for MP3's. Ill see if I can find the HRT streamer II somewhere. I'll try to find someplace that has a similiar set up and see if I can actually hear a difference with and without a proper DAC. Audio_ELF: Im looking to turn my computer into a stereo that gets the best out of MP3s. So super detail is not a priority I guess. My normal stereo is decent as I said. But I honestly don't use it for anything else than surround for film and videogames. My computer is my stereo and im just interested in turning that into a good machine for MP3's. New speakers and a DAC/soundcard was what I was thinking. So im not really interested in incorporating my SR606 since I probably still wouldn't use it. Erwin S: Yeah I would love those speakers but they are very pricy here. Twice the cost of the A-5's...
  4. I know. MP3's are not for audiophiles. I have a decent stereo (KEF 2005.2 and Onkyo SR606) but truth be told I mostly listen to music through Spotify and other MP3 sources on my computer. So now im sick of the piece of crap speakers and on board sound card. How do I get decent sound out of a computer and the main source will be MP3's (although I do have some flac). I have been looking at Audioengine 5 speakers and something like a Asus Xonar sound card. But what would you recommend? Is there some way to improve MP3 sound? A friend at work seem to think that his Creative X-fi sound card has done wonders to his MP3's. Maybe a DAC? I know everything is better than what I have now but Im a sucker for getting most bang for the buck. Thanks a lot!
