  1. album art exchange had a couple of incidents where individuals attempted to mass-download their library of images (presumably so they could set up their own site/sell the images) and so the owner of the site basically blocked all users from that 'area' from logging in to the web page. this means that for the last year no-one from the whole of the UK has been able to log in to the site. when trying to do so you reach the 'Blocked' page. it all got pretty heated up (as you can imagine people were slightly miffed to lose access for so long. it seems that in the last couple of days they have updated the website to allow visitors from previously blocked areas but there seem to be a few teething problems! hopefully they can get things sorted out. it would be nice to finally get back to their website. cheers, simon w.
  2. To clear up any misunderstandings: running the kernel in Snow Leopard in 32bit or 64bit modes has no impact on whether an application can run in 64bit mode and see greater than 4GB of Ram. So if you run your kernel in 32bit mode 64bit applications will still run in full 64bit mode and see however much ram you have installed. This is probably the reason why Apple do not run the kernel in 64bit mode as standard. You have compatibility with 32bit kernel extensions but no penalty for your 64bit applications. So even though I do not run a 64bit kernel Photoshop CS5, Cinema 4D R12 and a host of other apps I use all still run natively at 64bits. This is obviously not taking into account any perceived audible differences between the kernels but I just wanted to make sure that people understood there is no memory related reason for preferring the 64bit kernel over the 32bit kernel.
