Will dvd writers on most computers burn 24/96 files? Does it matter which media is used - such as DVD-R/RW ?

Article: Audiophile Reference Music Server For A Song

Hi Chris,

This server sounds appealing, but your statement below got my attention. Would you explain what this means? I am using a Mac mini but want to explore other options.

"Not to mention my Mac systems may save me from blowing my tweeters. The same cannot be said for some MediaMonkey and Windows systems".

Thanks,

Bob -
Article: Build An Audiophile Music Server (CA03)

Hi Chris,

I ended up using iTunes to complete the task of ripping as you suggested which worked fine. I have been listening to music through the usb connection to my Audio Research DAC7 but I wanted to try using the optical out from the Mini. I made the connection but there was no music. I assume there must be a set-up in the audio of the Mini I have missed. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Bob

-

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the response. I am interested in using EAC for ripping and then using dbpoweramp for converting to ALAC. If this is done with Vista could the drive then be configured for the Mac Mini without losing the stored music ? -

Hi Chris,

I am putting together the CA03 music server and am not computer savy. I see that Western Digital offers a My Book Mirror Edition and a My Book Studio Edition II. Would these be acceptable, and if so, which one would be the more appropriate choice? Looking forward to completing this system.

Thanks.
