  1. Hello After experiencing multiple challenges using a couple of different NAS drives to serve 24 bit FLAC files to my audio setup, I finally asking for some advice! What is the best NAS solution for this kind of set-up: NAS > Moon Mind > Rega DAC > Audio Research LS-17 Preamp? My preference would be to use a PLEX server on the NAS, but I'm totally open to suggestions - as long as it is tested, tried by fire and stable. Not much to ask, right? Oh, I use a MacBook Pro running Sierra
  2. Hello - I hope this is the right place to post this. I'm trying to find the best 24 Bit Flac player for the iPhone 6 Plus & the iPad Mini 3 ... I'm using an ALO International DAC / Headphone Amp connected through a Lightning Connector cable. I have specifically tried Cappricio, and the free sample of AmpliFlac. I've found a considerable acoustic difference between them, which makes me wonder what else is out there that I haven't tried. Has anyone tried Golden Ears by Chaoji Li? I'm not sure I want to commit $8 without a sampler. Full Album Art is a must ... (which eliminates apps like FLAC Player). Landscape is not a game-breaker, but it would help with my car setup. I would prefer having the ability to create, or at least manage Playlists within the app. Cost isn't an issue, especially since most of these apps run $10 or less. There seems to be quite a few people like me pursuing this information. There also seems to be a, yet to tapped, market out there for a serious audiophile oriented developer. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Amarra 3.0.1

Ah then this is the issue - I do use an optical connection. Can you explain to me how is Amarra 3 reacting to this limitation of my DAC, and changing the resolution it outputs? Thanks ...

    Amarra 3.0.1

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this, but I have a question about using Amarra 3. When I feed it a 24/192 aiff track through iTunes, it plays it at 24/96. Is this a limitation with Amarra, my MacMini, or my Rega DAC? Or it this a settings issues that I'm not understanding?
  5. Thanks for your insights. So far I've found the drive to be pretty fussy about its wifi connection. But I have been able to get some 24 bit performance from it. Could I trouble you with a few more questions? 1. Is it just a matter of changing the name of the AIF tracks to AIFF while the tracks are actually on the WLP? Or does this have to be done during the ripping process? 2. Do you have any insight about how long to wait while the iPad appears to be indexing (caching) or whatever it does while processing newly added tracks? This process seems to me to be where most of the 'hanging' of the drive takes place. Especially, if this 'indexing' process is rushed. 3. Do you have any insights about how to handle the drive when it goes into its 'zombie' state - and will not turn off (with both lights on)? At this point the drive no longer sounds like it's running and the only way I've found to get it to turn off is to (gulp) let it run until the battery completely drains.
  6. Thank you for the very useful thread post about streaming 24 bit audio on an iPad. I ended up purchasing the Seagate Wireless Plus and have a couple of questions: 1. Were you able to run AIFF files on Seagate's Media application for iPad? I have found the drive to be very finicky about running these files. And tech support was a little less than helpful with the situation. (They didn't even think the drive could or should run them until I pointed them that their own specs for the drive.) 2. Do you know of a way to get the drive to 'stream' & play audio files to any other iOS application - one that might be able to play 24 bit files either in AIFF or FLAC format? (I don't want to 'copy' these files to the iPad each time I want to play them.) Thanks for any assistance you can offer.
  7. Has anyone succeeded at creating a Streaming Subscription with Qobuz from the United States? If so, how did you go about doing this? Thanks
  8. Hello: Sorry to reactivate this thread, but I have found it very useful in getting information about this excellent classical music resource. My question is: Has anyone been able to download Qobuz's iPad in the United States? I can see information about it at the link below, but it does not show up when I use my iPad to download it from the Apple App*Store. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/qobuz/id395923901?mt=8
  9. Please forgive me it this is not the appropriate thread for this ... I'm considering purchasing Audirvana Plus, and was wondering if there is a manual I can review before I purchase it? I'm also curious about what seems like a lack of support on Audirvana's Support Forum. Has anyone experienced this frustration themselves? Is the program well supported by the developer?
  10. Hello: I'm demoing Amarra 2.5, and have found it surprisingly unstable. It might be something I'm not getting, but here's a couple of 'behavioral issues': 1. If I leave the application running in the background, and return to it after a few moments, the Amarra primary display is almost entirely white. Pretty much only the yellow track progress numbers are visible and very little else. The only way to recover from this is to use the 'Option A' keyboard command. 2. Quite often when I rotate back to Amarra for another application (using either Command Tab, or selecting Amarra in the Dock) the Amarra screen shows up but the Menu Bar is the last program I was in - for instance Safari. Recovering from this is even harder, since there is no Amarra menu bar at the top of the screen. Occasionally, I've just had to Force Quit Amarra because of this. Needless to say, although I really like Amarra's sound signature, I've struggling to be equally impressed with its stability. (For reference I'm using Amarra 2.5 (4460), directly downloaded from their website. I have given Amarra 1 Gig to work with. I'm using M. Lion 10.8.2, on a 2011 MacBook Pro. with 8 Gigs.) Thanks for any assistance with this.
  11. Can someone comment on how well iTunes 11 handles tracks which are both inside and outside of the "Music > iTunes" path? I've heard some pretty scary stories about people having to redo major portions of their metadata because iTunes corrupted their Library. I have thousands of files in dozens of locations (for my own reasons). Thanks
  12. Thanks to all for your assistance. Very helpful forum.
  13. Thanks for the input. Back to my original question: 1. Are there sound quality issues that I should be aware of between iTunes 10.2.1 and iTunes 10.6.3? And, while we're at it, 2. Are the SQ issues between OS X 10.6.6 and OS X 10.6.8? Apple is recommending I upgrade to both of them. Thanks
