Try NAS to UpTone to a decent USB spdif converter to DAC. Nas's sound quality is similar to my desktop which I used for DOTA 2 gaming

1) not every NAS has plugin that could play music. 2) for synology, yes.

There is a music player plugin in synology. You can do what u are intended with it provided that your DAC support your NAS.

Actually I am NOT looking for State of the art DAC... I just want something cheap. Since Ayre DSD is there, the price of the old version would normally goes down i guess? My budget is somewhere below <$1,200 new or used at the moment. Is the budget too low for my current system? Or there are some nice DAC around this price point that won't waste my system? 99% of my collections are 44.1. And I rarely listen to DSD.

Thank you guys. I'm now able to play music from the USB thumb with GMPC. However, I can't connect PK90 to my computer's hard drive. I suspect I put the address in the "Music Directory" with a wrong format (as attached). Please advice! **192.168.1.102 is my IP given by my router.

Sorry, I mean I don't know how to "install" / use the client.. BTW, I plug an USB harddisk into the back of PK90 and it works well from the player provided by Auraitli. It sounds Great! It is comparable to those US$2k+ CD transport!

Any brothers here know how to "install"/use the MPD on a Win 7 OS (with google chrome)? I've tried Ario, NeoMPD, MPC, GMPC (can't be installed),Gnome, etc, no luck at all... Most of them don't have any *.exe files on it. I don't know how to install it. Thanks
