  1. Just downloaded it and about to try it now. Seems to support up to only 96k, and no FLAC support. Need to upgrade to full version.
  2. Some newer preamps do sport digital input(s).
  3. Paul, You can either control volume in the digital or analog domain. In the digital domain, this can be done either by the music playing software - such as iTunes - or at the DAC itself, what happens is that you are throw away bits (ie resolution), so my humble understanding is that there would no sonic advantage to do it either start or end of the chain. Try searching here on the forum as there were lengthy discussions about this. If you meant a digitally controlled analog volume at the DAC, then you need specially designed software or driver for that particular DAC. So it probably can be done but am not aware of any example. In my personal opinion, the volume control of your ML 326s should be superior to any built-in volume control in any DACs known to man.
  4. Do you mean DAC that has a function to check whether the file is bit perfect? Weiss DAC202, for one, has that function. Basically you play a supplied file and go through the physical menu and there's a function for that.
  5. DM, Of the tubes you've tried which one do you like best? Off topic a bit - how do you like the PH-777? AMR seems to be making great products and I'm tempted to try that out as well. I'm using Esoteric C-03 at the moment.
  6. First of all, very nice photography! I know we're not comparing apples to apples, but I have a question re Devialet's amplification capabilities. Do you feel less powered? Is there a sense of loss in the bass and control department when compared to the excellent Soulution 710? I'm very tempted to sell several equipments and simplify myself with Devialet's one box set up.
  7. ...is that there are so many filter choices and i couldn't be sure i can reliably pick my favorite among them (classic: bit perfect1/2, HR: organic, apodising, etc.) It almost like having a different DAC each time, and the differences can definitely be heard. But I agree that it is definitely a great DAC, and even though it uses tube output stage, it does not sound like a tube product at all. The Lampizator on the other hand has that neutral but glowing tube drive like a good valve pre amp.
  8. Bladelius USB DAC uses XMOS USB chip which should work with Audirvana. At least it should be an easy fix.

    Turntables?

    It does 24/96. Software included.

    Turntables?

Rega P1 or Pro-ject turntables are good choices. In terms of getting analog in to the computer there's the Furutech's ADL GT40 USB DAC with phono stage and A/D via USB. Great value at around $450.
  11. ITunes is a great library browser and I prefer using players that utilise it (such as pure music.) Dragging albums or songs from iTunes to Audirvana works for me.
  12. If it's my apartment - I would go for a sealed-box (can place closer to walls), powered, bookshelf speakers. And if my budget allows, I will go for an ATC SCM10A.
  13. Comments here seem to suggest that SRC is slightly more natural but "softer" while CoreAudio is "crisp". Which is ironic because the SRC's output looks cleaner (compare them at src.infinitewave.ca). SRC uses quite a bit more computing power than CoreAudio, so at 24/192kHz there may be pauses if you don't have the fastest Macs.
  14. Eager to hear it as well. On paper, and designer's track record, I think it is one of the two most promising new DACs. The other being AMR DP-777. I have Aesthetix's Janus preamp and the quality is first rate.
  15. I replaced stock HD with an SSD. Couldn't tell the difference but then there was no way to do a controlled A/B test. However, in theory they do have benefits.
