As a new QX 5 owner, I have followed CA discussions carefully regarding the new Ayre DAC. I have been surprised to read two totally divergent opinions as to how the DAC should be connected in a system. One thought line says absolutely go ethernet, while the other favors USB. There is also a third opinion that the best sound can be gotten with the introduction of a microRendu in the chain. Can anyone explain the reason for the opposing opinions. That there is such a divergence of opinions suprises me. Is there really no absolute answer? My objective is solely to seek, reliably, the best quality sound. I'm running a Sonic Transporter into an Ayre QX5 Twenty via USB with ROON. At least 2-3 times per day, if my music ends and I go back to my IPad to make another selection, I have to do a restart of the Transporter to get ROON running again. I am having a similar problem. Tried to update Roon on Sonic Transporter. Now when I click on the IP address to manage the Sonic server, I just get a blank page. Cannot log into Roon. Can see the music files on the transporter over the network. Cannot see any network player.

My experience with the roon 1.3 update today has been completely unsuccessful. For 10 hours the roon logo pulsated as the update processed. I use an 8 tb sonic transporter, a new, Ayre QX5 and an iPad Pro. About 4k cds. Everything is new simple and uncomplicated, but my experience with roon continues, to be a misery. Now the update is asking me to connect to my core, but then continues to go into initializing, which has been 40 minutes now. This is after it logged me out for 45 minutes and would not let me back in. All I know to do is wait it out. Despite extensive research, I never read anything from Roon that explained how the process would go, nor how long it would take. They put on a very strong PR spin with a positive sell, but as a nine-month subscriber, shortly after I learned about the software from Chris, my experience has turned very negative, I regret to say.
