1. I wonder if chris has considered a tube output stage(spdif) I think this would lift the sound to a new level ?..any views
2. 24/192 spdif yes of course, but a few top end manufacturers are starting using their own proprietary sockets /plugs for higher rates. msb to name one. spdif has its limitations just like the old usb2 so I am wondering if we will ever see a future more efficient upgrade in this area? I guess if we start going higher than 24/192...
3. I would also like to say apparently elsewhere on this site someone has tested usb3 against FireWire and it is very noisy ,he thinks it might be something to do with a chip within the USB cable. If this is true then USB 3 would be a very bad idea at least until this noise issue is resolved
4. I would like to see a more advanced approach to RF/EMI rejection(a good few tweaks) separate power for motherboard etc. Also a quality AEU/EBU WBT connectors, this might add a little to cost but the sound quality would only get better.
5. Would love to know if Chris is working on a V.03...does any one know???
6. I have read this thread and i must say it is of great interest to me.A great concept and one that appears to be the answer to so many hifi servers that don't quite cut the mustard.
CAPS V2 i believe is really addressing the issues that so many servers from leading manufacturers gloss over.i.e lowest power usage, minimal processing from OS,proper USB filtering etc.
I would however like to see the next chapter V3 perhaps? This could be something that i would like to build or maybe even order ready made(depends how complex)Can we get some idea of when this might happen? As much as i like the V2 i think there is room for further development.
