  1. It would be great if Volumio Rivo could accommodate HQPlayer NAA functionality. NAA is not an add-on option in Volumio software but booting NAA OS from micro SD card should work (in theory)
  2. Hello Has anybody got experience with with this psu: Linear Power SUpply and Zuma v.3. My recently purchased unit overheats and computer would not boot. Andrew from small green computers believes unit may be faulty and offered replacement or refund. Currently my zuma is fed from power brick 12V, 12,5 A output, supplied originally with Zuma. I would greatly appreciate forum community feedback before deciding.
  3. Just installed usb audiorecorder pro on my Galaxy Note II. Good tip, thanks. Unfortunately have no cable to test it with but will try usb hub and connect to my “travelling gear”: Fireye II dac and Bose Computer Music Monitors. I also had some initial challenge with Neutron UI but once get used to the software - no problem.
  4. I suggest go to Google Play and download Neutron demo version which has full functionality for 2 weeks. When played high res files from HD Tracks, Neutron reported correct bit depth and sample rate. Phone hardware downgrades everything to 16/44.1 or 16/48 at the best but SQ is still very good with ATH CM7Ti or Shure SE 535 earphones.
  5. I recently acquired Neutron Music Player for my Galaxy Note II. List of features Technology. is very impressive, it can play 24/192 high res file on Android Smartphone or tablet. Sound quality is superb, better than my iPhone 4 when comparing the same 16/44 source files. There are number of very good software players for PC, Mac or Linux but laptops are not exactly small . Astell & Kern AK100 dedicated portable music player however good, it is an extra hardware to carry. Are there any other high definition audiophile grade software players on the market for Android or iOS devices?
  6. Both my cards are Visa - no luck here I hope they'll have paypal for english speaking clients one day . Never needed amex but now I may reconsider...I listened to few dsd tracks samples - don't know format they use for samples but the sound quality and realism is evident. Oh, what a pain not being able to get them...
  7. I finally passed registration but have problem with credit card confirmation. The same message as Joel's . It could be IP filtering which is often first line of defense for credit card authorization systems. It is probably better to do transactions during regular business hours. But it could be lots of other issues, mainly related to cc authorization systems. Really hard to say what is behind confirmation problems. I guess will try again at different times, hope it gets better.
  8. Thanks guys. I tried copying few Japanese characters as well- it did not work at that time. Will copy yours, Brucknerdoc and see what happens...Make me feel better not only me who had problems
  9. I tried to create account on e-onkyo music also using Google translate and trying various buttons but couldn't pass the process successfully. It stopped on creation of secret answer which was required in Hiragana which is Japanese phonetic alphabet. English alphabet didn't work for me. Great disappointment. After twitting e-onkyo music with dramatic request for english website, they answered they are planning on doing that in 2013. I will subscribe to their music store as soon they have english version. Or earlier when I overcame intricacies of Japanese alphabet. Plenty excellent high res PCM and DSD downloads there, just wish it was a little easier... Chris

  11. Many thanks for your comments. Since I only had all positive responses the outcome is only one: Mytek is a keeper, when it arrives of course . I did some searching around in the meantime and found Mytek on Sonoma website http://superaudiocenter.com/Mytek%20Digital%20Pricing.htm. Their 8X192 ADDA coverter is shown as cost effective alternative to Meitner/EMM Labs converters. For me it is plus point – especially in comparison to recognized authority in DSD/SACD pro audio business. Not directly related to DSD-192 dac but certainly puts Mytek, as a company, in good light. Cheers Chris
  12. m_j_s I never owned any of them but at some stage were seriously considering aquiring FF 400 based on user posts and positive opinions from various forums. It seems to me FF400 is also more acomplished device than Duet2 (and so is its price). FF400 is also about twice the price of Duet2. If you could live with firewire and have no budget constraint I would go for FF400. I can't comment on Duet sound coloration. I believe you should base your decission primarily on quality of a) analog input stage and b) A-D coversion section. my 2c.
  13. I have Mytek dsd-192 on preorder, based on good if not enthusiastic reviews on this thread. I must admit software/driver hiccups do not seriously bother me. They will be, with time, polished out and eventually fixed. Many much bigger electronic companies than Mytek are notorious for driver problems. Not enough development time and resources plaques many of them. Not a good thing for consumer of course but can be forgiven if there is a manufacturer will and effort to get things right, which Mytek is doing. Patching up circuit boards it is not unheard in the electronic industry either. Not ideal but acceptable if it is done right. This is aspect which bothers me most. Few guys on this thread reported their concerns. Things like overheating pcb and components, careless soldering, etc could give a problems with time. Discoloration, oxidation, loss of contact, intermittent faults and audible noise are usually consequences of messing up with pcb and electronic components. The obvious faults will be stopped by QA checks, time dependent ones will not. Is this whole issue a deal breaker for those who opened Mytek and looked inside? I know I can stop my order and ask for refund or wait for delivery, open dac and judge it myself…It is easier to send goods back from US or Europe where most of you guys are living. I am in South Africa, cost of reliable courier service is very high plus export-import issue and all associated troubles... Would appreciate your comments. Thanks Chris

  15. jhstn58, The way I understand your post is: if your dac has 96 kHz sampling rate, max theoretical frequency response at dac output will be 48 kHz which is half of the sampling rate, according to Nyquist theorem. In fact it can be less than that, depending on actual frequencies present and captured during recording session. On the other hand max frequencies which can be retrieved from vinyl record depend also on quality of pickup system. They can approach 40 kHz for very best cartridges (speaking under correction).
