  1. Seems to be solved now. Switched hog mode off- volume greyed out played a track and while playing switched hog mode on again , relaunched and it works! weird...
  2. I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.3 with latest security updates. I experienced no problems before applying the latest update to Itunes . on its own itunes connects and plays through the hiface evo fine- when i start PM all is fine as long as i don't play a track- when i do= Kernel panic.
  3. Hello, has anybody experienced the same thing? Yesterday after a few months flawessly using pure music I updated itunes to 10.2.1. Upon restart pure music opened fine. double clicked a track and bingo! kernel panic. Tried the other way around (itunes first PM second), start a track..same thing. I notice that when i start itunes alone, the volume from the mac is greyed as it should be ( I'm using with the Hiface evo) but when i start pure music, it's on again and the audio setting in my pref panel is switched back to internal speakers. It looks like there's a conflict between the two? The crash report did not mention the hiface driver at all- but PM. I'm pretty sure i use PM in hog mode but should double check that later this evening. Before contacting their support - does anyone have An idea what i should try? Re-install PM? I'm using Imac 24- 2009/2.4 Ghz/4 GB ram/snow leopard Thanks in advance
  4. Great suggestion here (just above). Try it out.
  5. In my experience a buffer (Dact ct 101+ dact attenuator fed by 2x12V sla batteries) trounced a direct connection with 1,5 meters interconnects choosen for their very low capacitance. Of course if it's to listen to music while surfing - enough said :-)
  6. Let us pretend you found a "perfect" attenuator @ the digital level. Zout of music streamer? Zin of your active speakers? Lenght of cable? Capacitance /meter of said cables? Using adapter cable unbalanced to balanced? No one has asked these fairly basic yet essential questions. No wonder however "perfect" digital attenuator you could go, it's going to be a disaster when you add say 5 meters of adapter cables on a feeble output stage. The only "useful" answer i've read in this thread is to get a 10K$ preamp. If you have them, go ahead, i'm sure lots of people will advise you on which one... I had the same problem when wanting to connect my Genelec 1031A's 10 years ago to the variable output of a cd player and found the results lacking.
