  1. Well... It's been a year and 9 months. Are we any closer to achieving great sound from Tidal? Is MQA a significant improvement? I'm still running AO 1.4 and JRiver MC21 will upgrading these improve sound quality? THANKS!
  2. Thanks! One can only hope for the day that happens. I dream of a time you can get GREAT sound from Tidal or some other service...

    AO vs. Tidal

I am running AO 1.40 and I have Tidal HiFi downloaded on my server. When I listen to a track on my server it sounds way better than when I pick the same track on Tidal. There are not many changes to be made on Tidal but are there any settings I can change in AO to make Tidal sound better???
  4. I dedicated a couple of hours over the weekend to compare the two. The Recovery is slightly better in my system than the Regen. The Recovery sounded richer, more 3D and better bass. Did I say slightly? Yes. I used the stock wall warts and Curious cables. Some of the qualities may be attributed to the Recovery is made by W4S and I have a W4S DAC??? I can unequivocally state that anyone with a USB DAC should give one of these two a listen. It's easily the best improvement I've made to my system based on "bang for your buck". Next time I listen I'm going to compare the Recovery with stock USB cables to my Light Harmonic LightSpeed 10G and I'll bet the Recovery wins!!! Regen for sale.
  5. Agree! Let's put the fun back in CA. Too much drama recently. Anyways, I received my two Regen links, one for either side of the Regen vs. Recovery and will burn them in until Sunday evening when I will compare to the two and the Curious vs. LH Lightspeed.
  6. Hold on just a minute... Computer Audiophile is a community of enthusiasts and as a community were are all here to learn and/or share information. But, we are also all individuals and are only responsible to ourselves for what we read and/or believe. I find Richard's contributions to this community valuable. His insights have benefited me more than my insights have benefited him. He is passionate about this hobby and I believe he puts more into it than he gets out of it. Do I find Richard's posts verbose, repetitive and self serving? YES! And that signature... But again, I mine the nuggets and ignore the rest. Is he deleting posts that he feels are off-topic? Yes and that's OK in one of his curated threads. Is he censoring posts that he doesn't agree with? I sure hope not, but that is between Chris and Richard. If you don't enjoy his threads don't read them...
  7. RUR arrived, Curious cables enroute. Opinion to follow in a week or two... Yes, I know, welcome to the thread, post RUR here, Curious there.
  8. Thanks fajita! I installed AO 1.40 and JRiver 21 yesterday and had this isame issue. Problem solved!
  9. Regen and Jitterbug definitely live up to the hype! Thanks Richard for the thoughtful analysis.
  10. LH LightSpeed 0.8M standard vs. Nordost Heimdall 2 1.0M I preferred the sound of the LS. The H2 is no slouch, but the LS was smoother with even less digital glare. It was more laid back too. The timbre of the instruments was more natural and the vocals we slightly more realistic too. I've noticed since getting my Magnepan 3.7i that it's easier to hear the difference in things...
  11. I would recommend a solid state amp with at least 100wpc that doubles it's power into 4 ohms. Lots of good used stuff on AudiogoN for less than $1500.
