  1. I'm hoping posting here may help some forum readers. As originally posted I was using a MacBook and PUC2 USB interface. Now I have the most simple system that blows my mind every time I play some music. I have a Lumin U1 mini playing Tidal. I go direct to my Genelecs and have set up my monitors to store the room calibration. I power the GLM network adaptor with a USB power supply. I set the GLM at max volume and use the Lumin app to control my volume. No computer connected once the room calibrartion has been performed. My ripped CDs are on a Samsung external SSD and thats it.
  2. Hi, I've recently upgraded my old Genelecs to a pair of 1032c and a 7380a sub. My system is: MacBook Pro > Yellotec PUC2 USB interface > AES direct to the Genelecs. I use my MacBook for managing the GLM software, volume and my ripped CDs via iTunes. My music is stored on two external SSDs. I realise I am probably not making the best of my Genelecs and there is probably a lot more I can get out of them. I would like to know in simple terms how can I stream hi res music to my monitors and still use the onboard DAC and GLM software. What do I need to stream direct to my monitors? Is there a way I can stop using my MacBook linked via USB to an interface and still use the GLM software and volume control? I guess I'm asking is there a device that I can operate headless? Is there a streamer without a DAC as I want to use the onboard DAC. And I guess I need to look at alternatives to iTunes? Any advice would be great. Thanks.
  3. Hi, Mods please move this post, if better suited elsewhere. I’m currently running the following playback system: iMac OSX 10.11.6 – YellowTec PUC2 (USB) XLR to two Genelec 8240A monitors and a 7270A sub. I’m using Audirvana Plus on my iMac Here is my dilemma. I’m moving to a new home and the room where I will listen to my music is approx. 5.5m x 7.5m x 4.5m high, slightly larger than the one I'm currently in. My current listening set up is very much like a near field studio desk with my ears only around 1.5m away from the Genelec’s. My new room I intend to have my monitors on the long back wall on speaker stands and to sit between them for more lounge type listening and I will be further away from the monitors. I’ve got the urge for a change, a rebuild or redesign my system and here are the options (all very different) I’m considering : a) Replace the 8240A and 7270A sub with a pair of Genelec 8351. Keep the PUC2. Room correction via GLM. b) Go for something completely different… Benchmark media DAC / AHB2 Power Amp and a pair of passive monitors (to be decided). Room correction via mini DSP c) RME AD2 pro or ADI-2 DAC, a pair of Amphion One18 and a pair of Amp100 mono blocks. Room correction via mini DSP So what would you guys do... or is there something else I should consider? Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi Pete, Sorry I didn't have Skype (do now though). I have audio! Yes!! I deleted GLM and the YellowTec software and that has worked. No more red flashing lights. I have no idea what I did wrong, but all okay now. Now to get into Audirvana :-)
  5. Hi Pete, Audio Midi Setup shows YellowTec PUC2 (Core Audio) as device for sound output. Speakers also configured in Midi setup. Reinstalled drivers from YellowTec. Still red flashing light on both monitors. iTunes shows playing tracks, but no volume. GLM shows both monitors left and right. Thats as far as I can get.
  6. Hi Pete, Thanks for detailed reply. System: iMac > USB2 > YellowTec PUC2 > XLR AES > monitors I've downloaded Audirvana and now I have the following: No volume, red flashing light left monitor and solid orange light on the right monitor. Prefered audio device is the PUC2 (Core Audio). Do I need to do anything with OSX Audi Midi set up? I ask as I cannot select the OUC2 as using this device for sound output. When I open Audirvana its says optimizing system and if I have Audio Midi open I can see if move from playback using the YellowTec to using the iMacs default speakers.
  7. Okay - I now have audio from the Genelecs, but now both monitors are showing red/green on and off at any volume. This sounds to me as if the digital signal going to the monitors via the YellowTec PUC2 is too hot. Does anyone know how I can stop the monitors clipping or reduce the input into the monitors??
  8. Calling DigiPete or any other Genelec users - I need your help, please! OSX is now 10.11.2 and GLM is 2.05 (also tried beta). Using a YellowTec PUC2 (USB) XLR to 8240A monitors/subs. Using iTunes for playback. Here is the problem. I have no audio via iTunes, yet monitors are green and GLM appears to be okay. Audio Midi setup shows/identifies YellowTec PUC2 (Core Audio) as default option for sound output. I can play iTunes through the iMac's in built speaker, but as soon as I switch to the PUC2 I get no sound and the progress bar in iTunes does not move, so no music. Can anyone suggest what is going on here? Thanks.
  9. Hi, Has anyone any experience with these monitors? If so, it woud good to hear your views - thinking of putting them on a short list of monitors to listen too. Thanks.
  10. And still nothing from Genelec :-(
  11. Hi Pete, Of course I will support your campaign - what great idea!
  12. Thanks Bourne, So GLM 2.0 is Windows only and will be Mac OS X compatiable sometime in quarter 1 of 2015. GLM 2.0 will also support legacy monitors 8000 series and 123x GLM 1.5 unit will need to be replaced by the GLM 2.0 unit and Genelec are hopefully going to give 1.5 unit users a trade in offer. I hope all this does happen soon :-) Thanks for posting a reply.
  13. I've tried to get a response from Genelec on their forum but they haven't replied, so I thought someone on here (DigiPete??) might be able to answer. I run Yosemite OS X and Genelec's GSM and AutoCal is not supported. I have asked if it is likely to be supported in the near future but I've had no reply apart from it's not supported. It is only supported in Mavericks. I have also asked if their 8000 series will be supported by Genelec's newer GSM 2 but again I've only been told possibly first quarter of 2015 for Mac users, but Genelec have not responded saying it will specifically support their 8000 series. I know Genelec are busy people but it would be nice to know if my 8240a are obsolete whilst running Yosemite? Maybe someone one here can answer? Thanks.
  14. Hey Udayan, thansk for the offer, but no thanks. DigiPete the price of the 8351 is GBP 4,478 for a pair. Now I'm VERY interested.
