I got spotify connect to work with my USB bridge running Dietpi. I manually installed Raspotify using the instructions on the github page rather than using the installer which appears to check it is running on a RPi

Mystery revealed: UpTone Audio "UltraCap™ LPS-1"
Rockefoten replied to Superdad's topic in UpTone Audio (Sponsored)
Was wondering if it would be possible to buy the urendu with the Ultracap LPS (preferable without the smps) ? For us overseas this is practical and saves fees and postage Regards Ole -
Anyone with any hands on actual experience now? Im considering a dac and AVC-box

As a drummer I would said that guitarists need distortion and reverb to hide their errors. No only kidding. Distortion is fine with guitars and organs, maybe not so much on classical piano, flutes, voices etc. Id like to hear both clean undistorted instruments and voices and some nice distortion when called for. But in order to be able to do both the hifi needs to be clean. The distortion would have to be applied in the studio only?

Suggested improvements to J River for 2015
Rockefoten replied to Geoffrey Armstrong's topic in Software
Id like to send tidal through jriver on my mac please. -
You might want to check out Tidal Hifi. In Norway we have had Tidal HIFI (under the name WIMP) for about a year now. Its lossless and sound good. You can also send audio directly to dacs or you favourite room correction plugin.

Use UA plugins for free with any Apple audio software
Rockefoten replied to wgscott's topic in Software
I find that au lab tend to crash a lot and give weird sounds in the dac. I therefore use audio hijack pro instead. Nor free, but not expensive. -
It it sounds marginally worse Ill be using it 90% of the time anyway, and maybe crack out audirvana for the occasional 10% of the time when I care...

Maybe some room correction.. Both dirac and audiolense is a bit costly, but you could try REW. Thats free, but you need a mic. Its mostly for the technical inclined I guess. Dirac is very plug and play but about 700 dollars. If you look at the thread about weakest link you will see how many people find the room being the largest problem.

I would also vote K. Starting to use Audiolense is really a revelation. It makes me kind of embarrassed thinking about the small differences Ive been paying for with cables and such.
-
I would Get a mic and measure.. I use the same setu as you and audiolense and where i was by ear was nowhere close to where I ended. Also I would encourage you to try the dirac or audiolense demo while your at it... Really god stuff

My Mac is 2.6 core duo, so not very fast... Will try with easier partial filter.. Maybe 16k taps is ok?
-
Tanks for all the replies! I am doing both frequency and time at 65k taps from 20-20khz, but I guess I can do 11k taps and partisl correction to get less load. But will a filter at 2,8 MHz work in jriver? (assuming the osx version will do the same as pc.) and will still dsd over dop work? Hqplayer is pc only?

Hi there, I hope someone have experience or views on this topic. During the last few months Ive experimented with digital room correction (audiolense and dirac) and have trouble seeing that I will be able to be happy without in the future. But Im also a big fan of the sound from dsd recordings. And there is the problem. DSD doesnt work with room correction (please enlighten me if Im wrong). The bitrate is simply too taxing for the CPU. So.. When buying recordings. Should I go for 24/96 or 24/192 in order to get room correction, or should I buy the DSD in hope that room correction will work in the future? Anyone have any views? Is the difference between 24 bit and dsd very big given the same master?
