  1. thanks for the feedback bleedink. I think my problem is with the adapter as you point out in your first post. Odd that it still works no problem with my LG desktop monitor though... Anyway I did get this working but only by splashing out on a 'Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter'. Because I have a 2010 MBP this will also pass the audio which is great as I don't have to worry about running the digital optical in with the HDMI. One less thing to set up and plug in. [*]http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY If anyone is curious to know if their MBP will support the audio pass through heres how to check... - About This Mac - More Info - Hardware->Audio (built in) If you see "HDMI / DisplayPort Output" in the list then you'll be fine. BTW... yeah loving my receiver but waiting on my Energy Floor Standers to arrive before I'll get proper appreciation. Currently using a set of Energy RC-Micros that I bought as rears. They just don't cut it for front speakers but they'll be great for the rears. Cheers
  2. Hi There, I'm just setting up my new receiver and I want to play movies from my macbook pro via the mini display port to the receivers HDMI port. This is my set up... - Yamaha RX-V2065 - Macbook pro (NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512MB) - HDMI / DisplayPort Output Using apple HDMI converter (the little adapter plug) to HDMI4 port on receiver - S/PDIF Optical Digital Audio Output to Optical Digital Input AV4 (this matches HDMI4 for the audio stream) The macbook pro appears to registrar the exsistance of an external display (the screen flicks blue as the display card/software deals with the additional display) but then for one reason or another it is lost. Is this an issue with my receiver or the mac? I read somewhere that the macs HDMI output isn't strictly compliant. Is this true? Could it be that the receiver is refusing to recognise a non compliant HDMI connection? When plugged directly into the TV its fine. I would rather run through the receiver though as otherwise there are issue with sound lag while the receiver processes the audio digital stream. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
