Hello. I am wanting to put all my CDs on a Mini-Mac as a dedicated music server. I have ordered an Arcam rDAC. My amp is NAD. I want highest quality given what I have. I have some questions if anyone can help.
- What lossless format am I best to use? (eg Apple Lossless, or maybe FLAC using Fluke?)
- Should I be using Amarra with iTunes for best sound, or can I optimise iTunes for the given format anyway?
- What is the best way to connect my dedicated Mini-Mac to the Arcam rDAC? (I would like to use a simple USB connection but some posts suggest this is not the best way.)
- I shall have the mini-Mac on my desk and the hi-fi system 8 metres away. Am I best having the DAC next to the mini-Mac and a long lead from the DAC to the amp, or should I put the DAC by the amp and have a long lead from mini-Mac to the DAC?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
