  1. Thank you both so much for your valuable comments especially the later which is exactly what happened on one occasion.Your idea of using the backup also proved useful to find missing files. I am happy to report that the problem has been resolved and one useful function I found was with the locate button. Once I had established where the files had " dissapeared" to I was able to point i-tunes there and then use the function do you want to use this location to find other missing files which it did. Again it is really appreciated that you took the time to respond to my request.I am now a "computer whizz" according to the grandchildren who incidently could not help me.. Sincerely and kind regards Grant
  2. Hi there (Mr I assume) Scott Thank you for your helpful comments and for taking the time to assist me. May I ask when you refer to backup, is thisa backup of the computer itself, which I do have. Would that then mean starting from a backup point on the computer or are you refering to a backup of i-tunes which again fallsinto the overall backup but then I am not sure where to find the preference files. sorry a stupid question? Dont worry too much of it is complicated, I thank you for your assistance anyway? Kind regards Grant (approaching senility but enjoying the music!!!)
  3. Good day to you all I have read some of your threads and you appear most helpful. I was wondering if you could please assist me in a rather difficult situation with my itunes library. I have been collecting music over some time now and at various stages changed the location where the music is stored due to an inceasing size of library. ( A common occurance I believe) Recently my computer hung and I had to switch off whilst listening to my i-tunes. When I restarted the i-tunes had defaulted to the origal setting and could not locate a number of my files. I re-pointed it in the direction of the external drive, but it still does not locate a number of files. When I push locate it finds a few files but they are sometimes elsewhere. In some cases the files are still on my c drive of my laptop..I am really confused and want to revert back without loosing all my playlists and more worrying is when I re-sync my ipod it will sync to the new settings etc...Please can you help. I am using windows 7 and am very limited in my computer knowledge (in my 70's) I would be extremely grateful if you can provide me with a solution. Kind regards Grant
