  1. I have purchased a used Weiss Minerva, should have it installed later this week. I will post the results. Thanks,
  2. I am a first time poster and newbie with the same problem. My system is a Mac Pro 1.1, dual core Intel Xeon 2.66Ghz, OS 10.6.4, using Pure Music Player, toslink to Musical Fidelity DM 25 DAC to Linn Kairin Pre Amp to 3 Linn LK 140 fully Aktiv amps to Linn Ninka speakers. I have ripped with Max and XLD to FLAC and converted to AIFF, ripped directly to AIFF and ripped to AIFF through iTunes. I installed a new CD/DVD drive hoping the problem was mechanical. I am pretty sure Audio Midi and Sound Preferences are configured correctly, output is to Soundflower 2 ch, 32 bit 96KHz (I am using this so I can utilize Hog mode in Pure Music, I started with the default setting, but it doesn't seem to make much difference either way). The sound is consistently awful, extremely brittle and tinny. Even at moderately high volume, it literally hurts your ears. The same CD played through my Esoteric SA 60 Universal Player digital out via coax to the MF DAC sounds great. Hi Rez files downloaded from Linn and HDTracks sound great. I have read Chris' excellent article on ripping strategies. I would appreciate and thoughts or suggestions, I hope I am missing some fundamental step. Thanks,
