  1. I also agree that the update process should be clearer. If I hadn’t read this forum I would be none the wiser. It would also be nice to receive some form of notification that a update is available rather than having to randomly check for updates.
  2. Hi, I’m trying to update the software from version 2.1 to the latest version but when I run software update I get the following message: Upgrade in progress... 09/28/2016 15:51:27 - Starting upgrade. (This can take a long time...) 09/28/2016 15:51:27 - Updating sonicorbiter packages... Malformed lock file found: /var/cache/dnf/metadata_lock.pid. Ensure no other dnf process is running and remove the lock file manually or run systemd-tmpfiles --remove dnf.conf. 09/28/2016 15:51:35 - Updating OS packages... Malformed lock file found: /var/cache/dnf/metadata_lock.pid. Ensure no other dnf process is running and remove the lock file manually or run systemd-tmpfiles --remove dnf.conf. 09/28/2016 15:51:39 - Error: dnf update failed. Check error messages and try to fix the problem. What is a dnf process, should the DAC be turned off and how can I fix this? Thanks
  3. Does anyone know if a company based in the UK called Vortexbox are legit/official uk distributors for the Sonore microRendu product? Alternatively does anyone have email contact for sonore so I can ask them directly? Thanks.
  4. I noticed on the T+A website that Macs are only supported up to DSD 128. Does this mean this DAC is wasted on a Mac? Or can the Mac OS be bypassed in someway by using DSD 512 mode with HQ Player and Roon?
  5. Hi Jimmypowder, If you can, please do report back on the difference s between Yggdrasil & 2Qute. The 2Qute is much cheaper here in the UK but I’m wondering myself whether the Yggdrasil will be worth the extra. Thank you.

    Itunes volume dB

I should add that I have always had Sound Check turned off.
  7. Never noticed this before but when you go to 'file info' in iTunes, some ripped Cds show the volume with minus or plus dB volume adjustments. Is this normal? Does iTunes ripping adjust the volume. The volume adjustment is not shown on XLD rips. Thank you.
  8. The new mini might be one of the most disappointing upgrades but I don’t see why that makes it any less of a computer than a 2009 or 2012 mac mini. Sure 2 cores is a downgrade from 4 but when you balance that with the advantages Knuck has highlighted it may be a better sounding machine. Until someone can compare the 2 side by side surely its just guess work which would sound better?
  9. There are differences. For example a 800x800 72dpi image may look the same on screen as a 800x800 300dpi image but the 300dpi image will have a bigger files size and more detail in the original.
  10. One of my all time favourite musicians. So sad to hear.
  11. I've seen this asked a lot since the new macs came out but without any answers. I would also like to know. A SSD can sound better than a standard HD but not sure about the other 2 choices. If you have a USB DAC I would consider using Firewire or Thunderbolt if you go with the SSD and external HD.
  12. Other than cost is there any advantage with the mini using the Fusion drive v SSD and external hard drive? Which should sound better?
