1. I've been streaming audio for about four years now. Until recently I was using a variation on a C.A.S.H. server running Windows 7 and various versions of JRiver. That computer died and was replaced with an Intel NUC i3. running Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit. I'm looking for advice on using the various OS modifying software. What works best? In the two computer mode do both computers have to be dedicated to the audio system or can the control computer be any other machine on the network? Does OA improve the sound even after JPLAY is installed? Are there other software packages to consider. Thank you to anyone who can shed some light on this for me. Beowulf
2. My DAC won't play DSD 5.6 but it does play DSD 2.8. I need software to downsample some 5.6 files to 2.8 so I can play them. I am assuming something like this exists. Does anyone have a suggestion?
3. I've built a variation on the CAPS 2.0. The case I bought has two small fans which I would rather not use. I see in the mobo BIOS I can control things like temp at which the board shuts down as well as the temps at which the fans operate. I've seen a reference to 90C being the maximum temp for the CPU. But what is the max long run temp for either the CPU and/or the system as a whole?
4. Looking at the specs for the CAPS 2.0 and specifically the "isolated" USB card it occurs to me that might provide the galvanic isolation the MA-1 needs for its USB port.
5. Chris published a list of the 140+ "services" used by Win 7. Yet he says he can reduce this to 33 and still have a stable CAPS 2.0. Has anyone tell me which 100+ services I can safely turn off?
6. I'm looking at building the C.A.P.S. 2.0. I see the recommended case comes with a 150W power supply yet Chris recommends another 60W supply in the design spec. Is this a case of the specified power supply is better or did the case company just upgrade their product and add a power supply
7. I recently read Chris' review with great interest. My only concern was the diminished enthusiasm for the performance over the USB input. This week I was in contact with a Meitner dealer and asked for a comment on this issue. The response I got, reportedly came directly from Meitner Audio. The company says this issue has been resolved completely through a firmware upgrade.

Since I would use the USB port exclusively this is an important issue for me if I am going to consider the MA-1.

Has Computer Audiophile had experience with the new firmware or any feedback from the company on this issue?
8. Some time back I downloaded some tracks from HD Giant that had DRM. These were in WMA. They played fine at the time but when I went back and tried to play the tracks today I get a message that my music server is "acquiring license". After a long pause, nothing. No license and the tracks won't play. I tried burning the tracks to a disk but when the disk is played I still get "downloading media usage rights". I paid for these tracks. Does anyone have an idea how to overcome this problem?
9. I'm trying out the new version of Songbird (1.8) and so far I'm happy with it. But for me to use it I need the ability to remotely control the program. I have the free version of the Songbird app (1.2.1)on my iPod Touch but it won't connect with/doesn't see the copy of Songbird running on the computer. The iPod sees the wireless network and the iTunes controller app runs iTunes just fine. But not Songbird. When I run the Songbird app and press the "Connection" button, it goes to a screen telling me to select the Songbird with which I want to connect. But there are no choices available. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
10. I'm using iTunes. Most of my files are aiff and have the art work embedded in the file. Recently, I've added a number of higher rez wav files. When I try to attach an art file, iTunes acts as if everything if fine accepting the image just as it does with an aiff, but that's it. No art. Is there a way to solve this?
11. I was looking through the posts at PS Audio the other day. It became clear that Paul McGowan and apparently the company as a whole prefer FLAC to other formats. Anyone have a comment on what's good or bad about this format and why it might be preferable to other formats?
12. I just got a PS Audio PWD. I have a remote computer running Windows to which I have connected a DROBO via its Firewire 800 port. The Network Interface Card in the computer runs at gigabit speed and connects the computer to my router. I have an ethernet cable plugged into another port on the router. The other end of that ethernet cable goes through a converter to USB which plugs into the PWD. I am using iTunes. Even though iTunes shows music to be playing nothing shows up at the PWD. What am I missing? Thanks Lee Estes (Beowulf)
13. I'm using iTunes. I set up several "smart playlists" but once the smart playlist has selected 25 selections randomly which meet the criteria I have selected I get the same 25 selections every time I pick that smart playlist. It seems like it ought to make a new selection each time its selected. Playing the same selections in the same order defeats the purpose of a random playback. Am I doing something wrong or is this as good as it gets? Lee Estes (Beowulf)
14. With a Windows based system, with a firewire output and DAC with a firewire input, do I still need to have an audio card to pass the signal to the firewire output? I thought I was right about this but I see iTunes doesn't let me tell it which output to send the signal. Lee Estes
15. In an iTunes install where does iTunes keep the art work? I have iTunes on my primary computer and the music files are all saved on network attached storage. Are the art files on the computer or on the attached storage with the music files? Thanks Lee Estes a/k/a Beowulf
