How about a basic outline of how to build a server from a laptop pc(acer 5700, Vista) with an external usb drive (1tb), a HRT Music Streamer II plus, feeding a melos tube preamp, adcom amp and apogee studio grand speakers- . Which rippers, file formats, players etc are really the best for orchestral and jazz music- I;d like to do it right the first time. Somehow, the cd's i've ripped using itunes don't sound very good, even though i'm using lossless aiff files. both the hdd and the dac are driven directly from the laptop Any guidelones would be appreciated thanks in advance
