  1. Looking at building a small headphone based system to listen to music via Tidal or tracks bought from HDTracks on my MacBook Pro. I'm getting the RME ADI-2-DAC FS along with Sennheiser HD 800S as hardware a couple of questions. USB Cable - Noting my MacBook Pro has only USB C ports is it advisable to use the Apple Adapter dongle with a higher quality USB cable or try to find a higher quality cable with a USB connection. Ultimately, will the Apple adapter diminish the sound quality. Roon - I've read over Roon's capabilities but really wanted to know will their software actually improve the sound of the small system I'm currently building or is it overkill. Just trying to do a basic cost benefit analysis here. Thanks everyone.
  2. Since I've "upgraded" to iTunes 11 (actually 11.1) I continue to experience persisent skipping during song playback. To address this I have done the following: 1. change the external hard disk where my itunes library is stored (previous hard drive was close to getting full) 2. change the macbook pro (yep) that leaves three variables I believe: 1. the music files themselves. these have been rock solid for years and I can't think why they now would be the culprit.. 2. itunes 11...I had no issues with numerous older versions of itunes in regard to skipping going back 10+ years. 3. amarra (ver 2.6) Also, when i use itunes radio within itunes 11 it plays back perfectly..no skipping.. Any and all help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.
  3. Just purchased some new content off of Blue Coast and now see the tracks in my download folder each as a .dsf file. Never ran into this before with HDtracks.. I run everything through my dedicated MBP ->iTunes->Amarra out to my Scarlatti DAC. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get these files into my itunes library? Thanks all in advance.
  4. Hey everyone, I am extremely happy with my current two channel system which begins with my MBP. My question is how to additionally route the signal to a multi room amp while keeping my current signal quality in shape. Ideally, I'd like to use a wireless solution since the multi room is in a different room than my full system. I do use iTunes through Amarra. Many thanks in a advance. My current system MBP>dCS Scarlatti full stack>Ayre KX-R>BAT Rex pwr amps>Wilson Sasha's

  6. I currently use my Firewire 800 port on my MBP to connect my OWC 1TB external drive for time machine backups. The trouble is my OWC SSD I installed in the MBP (approx 500G) is approaching full. So, I was thinking of running a separate OWC 1TB external to store my iTunes library on however it dawned on me that I only have one FW800 port on the MBP. Does anyone know of a quality FW800 hub or a clever workaround that is easy.. Thanks all in advance.
