  1. No resolution yet but I found a decent workaround: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/WDM_Driver I will update the thread if a fix is found.
  2. I just opened a ticket with Tidal support but I'll try my luck here as well. Here is what I sent to Tidal: In Settings > Streaming, I have Streaming Audio Quality set to Master. Under Sound Output, my DAC is selected (Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 first gen.) and under More Settings "Use Exclusive Mode" and "Force volume" are both selected. In Windows Sound Settings for the DAC, both boxes are checked under "Exclusive Mode".+ The problem is that when I change from a HIFI (44.1kHz) song to a MASTER song that should switch the DAC to a higher frequency (96kHz for example) the frequency does not change. In contrast, when I use JRiver Media Center and play a 44.1kHz file, the DAC changes automatically to 44.1. Same for 48kHz, 88.2kHz and 96kHz files. The correct frequency is selected in Media Center but not in Tidal. This problem seems to exist in MacOS as well as in Windows. I would be happy if I could get it fixed in Windows. Thank you. The Scarlett 6i6 has the Black Lion Audio mods and drives my Sennheiser HD650 headphones nicely. Has anyone been down this road and found a fix? Thank you and thanks Chris for this great site!
  3. I have a little ASUS Android tablet - ZenPad C 7.0 - and I used to use it to cast HiFi audio to a ChromeCast Audio device which is connected to the stereo receiver in our living room. The update that enabled Tidal Master playback on the tablet broke the casting functionality, that is, casting from the tablet to the CCA no longer works. Casting from my iPhone to the CCA still works - not Master quality of course - so it's not an issue with the CCA. I have opened a ticket with Tidal support and will report on the outcome.
  4. Best thread ever. When I was a kid growing up on a farm in southern Ontario, Canada, we had a herd of Holstein dairy cattle. My contribution is
  5. Note as well that the AT2020 requires phantom power, typically 48VDC.
  6. I asked this on a Mazda forum and got a reply saying the iPhone needs to be jailbreaked (jailbroke? jailbroken? jailbroked?) for this to work. Oh well...
  7. I have the Tidal app on my iPhone 6S and it shows up on the CarPlay screen in my 2018 Mazda3 no problem. I also have the Onkyo HF Player app on my phone and, while I do have some control over the app in the CarPlay interface, there is no HF Player icon in CarPlay. Is it possible to integrate HF Player more tightly with CarPlay?

  10. As an AES member I find this statement to be more than a little offensive. Lest people get the wrong idea from your post, this is how AES describes AES: http://www.aes.org/about
  11. Here is one very pricy exception: http://jeffrowlandgroup.com/us/amplifiers-model-825-stereo-amplifier.html The SMPS is listed as one of the features of this monster. If I had US $32,000.00 I'd ... trade in my Mazda for an Audi or something - maybe.
  12. From ieee.org: The performance of a system depends highly on the communication speed between the processing unit and memory. Here, one of the major bottlenecks in communication speed is power supply noise [1]. The coupling between signal lines and power delivery network (PDN) in off-chip signaling induces simultaneous switching noise (SSN). Using power/ground planes, SSN is mainly induced by the return current path discontinuity (RPD) and the plane cavity resonance. The return current path in a power plane-based environment is usually disturbed by several kinds of discontinuities such as a power plane split or multiple via holes. Even with a solid return current path, the cavity resonance from the power/ground planes will deteriorate signal transmission. These noise sources constrain the timing margin, and reduce the operating frequency. Therefore, a new type of PDN is required to improve the chip-to-chip communication speed. http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/5338489/?section=abstract
