  1. Thank you Frank and lucretius, I'll get started.
  2. I just installed free Audacity 2.4.2 on Windows 10 PC. All I want to do is generate the spectrographs I see so often on this website to analyze my own hi-rez flac files. I have some from HD Tracks and others ripped from DVD-Audio and Blu-Ray discs. I enjoy digital music files on systems throughout my house and now I want to get a feel for validating true hi-res files from imposters upsampled from CDs. There may be other trickery I would want to look out for as well. Can someone help me get started with the software? I can ask more intelligent and specific questions after I get going, but just need a jump start. I have spent a good bit of time searching the site but couldn't find what I need. If there's an existing article, please point it out. Thanks!
  3. Thanks, I've heard others say the Squeezebox touch works well, I wonder what the secret is. I just installed a Cambridge Audio NP30 player and it wil NOT keep a stream at 44.1 or above.
  4. Is the typical wireless home network capable of reliably streaming 44.1k and 96k files to a client device, or is this too much to expect? I want to find the best wireless client player for JRiver Media server. What do you recommend? Also, what are the optimal JRiver settings for hirez streaming? Thanks for you help.
  5. I just installed a new Cambridge Audio NP 30 Network Music Player as a DLNA device for my main home stereo. My office PC is the JRiver 15 server running Windows 7. This is the first time I have attempted wireless bridging to the main stereo. In JRiver, I simply enabled "sharing media with other DLNA devices," but there are a host of other JRiver settings that I do not know how to optimize. I want to stream full 44.1 to 96k flac files to the NP 30. It recognized the JRiver server, but currently downsamples files to 320K. I think this may be in the JRiver settings. Could someone please let me know how to optimize the various JRiver settings for full wireless throughput of 44.1 to 99k files to a recognized DLNA receiver? Thanks!
  6. Hi Victor, No problem asking the basics, I appreciate your help. I did power the Xonar and disable main board audio. Looks like it was not a motherboard issue, at least not directly. I had a tech look at it and he found two processes running in Windows 7 that were interfering with the card. I don't know what they were, but I'm now able to output both analog and digital from the Xonar, and have full view of the application. Now I'm about the business of configuring card and player for bit perfect output. I have Chris' write-up of Windows 7 and J River, but wondering how you are configured for bit perfect, and which media player(s) you use. Have you attempted bit perfect output from iTunes through the Xonar by chance? Thanks. Elkbone.
  7. Thank you Victor. I have switched off main board audio and downloaded new driver, but still no sound. Next theory is the main board is not up to the task. I'm switching to a newer ASUS main board to gain compatibility. Just curious, what make/model motherboard are you using with the ASUS Xonar card?
  8. Has anyone installed an ASUS Xonar sound card in a Windows 7 PC? I cannot get audio from either the digital or analog outputs, but it appearst to be playing in the card's graphic display. Any suggestions you can offer?
  9. Hello all, I'm new to the forums and have not found the information I'm looking for. Could someone brief me on how to obtain bit perfect output via USB using a Windows 7 generic PC and iTunes. (I prefer to stay with iTunes if I can make this work.) I'm not clear on how to apply WASAPI or ASIO software fixes. I'm also wondering if I can facilitate this by installing an ASUS STX sound card, which I'm willing to do, and going digi coax to my DAC. But not sure this really addresses the issue either. Please advise. Thank you.
