  1. View Classified Allo USBridge Signature with Shanti LPS I am selling my Allo USBridge Signature player with the Shanti LPS Dual Power Supply as I have upgraded to an Ultrarendu. Note: Allo USB streamers do not work with the Ayre Codex DACs USB input due to a bug in the Linux kernel. It'll be up to you to install the software from the Allo web site, I can't help with that, but it wasn't too difficult. 16GB Transcend microsd card included (the software is installed but as it's configured to my home network, I think you'll need to reinstall it). Seller intermediatic Date 12/08/20 Price 350.00 USD Category Music Servers / Streamers
  2. That’s nice to hear. I love the QX-5. It’s such a phenomenal unit. It’s incredible how many sources it allows and I only use three (TV, Blu-ray and Roon). I feel like I need Ayre to put together a list of digital sources I should buy.
  3. Yes Allo doesn’t work with the Ayre. I switched to an Ultrarendu. It’s a much nicer solution.
  4. Ok, I have found out why I have had so much trouble with Allo Digital products and the Ayre Codex. It's a bug in Linux. My symptoms are that the unit may not work or it might work for a song or two but it will eventually crash the connection with the DAC. See here. https://support.auralic.com/hc/en-us/articles/206602837 I've purchased an Ultrarendu and a couple of hours later, throwing MQA, hi-res, and regular files at it, Roon is just chugging away.
  5. Very helpful, thanks. Although now I am coming to the realization that the Allo USB products will not work consistently with the Ayre Codex. They work just fine with my Schitt Multibit Modi, but man, what a difference in sound quality. I think it’s time for an ultrarendu.
  6. My new USBridge Sig doesn't want to play nice with my Ayre Codex. Using Moode's Squeezeplay renderer, Roon seems to die after a couple of songs and Airplay doesn't work at all although the built in radio stations work just fine. I wasn't able to get RopieeXL to work at all with the Codex, but both the Roon renderer and Airplay work great with it. Previously, an Allo USBridge (original version) stopped working with the Codex and I could not get it running again. My computer does work with the Ayre Codex and the DAC largely seems to work with a Schitt Multibit Modi leading me to wonder what is up (I'm going to try Ropieexl). The Modi can't hold a candle to the Codex, so I'd like to get this resolved somehow. Does anybody have a Codex working with these products?
  7. I am trying to get my USBridge Sig to work with the wifi dongle that came with my old USBridge with Sparky, but Moode Audio won't see it. Anybody have any luck? Here is the output of lsusb Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0bda:818b Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8192EU 802.11b/g/n WLAN Adapter Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0b95:1790 ASIX Electronics Corp. 8. I know how that feels. I have two of these units. Both worked fine for 6 months or so. Then one started failing. Now the other one is failing as well and I've reflashed the eMMc card dozens of times with no luck.
  9. I'm even willing to give up on the $1,000 and/or the wifi. I won't buy another Allo product as, having jumped through a whole bunch of hoops to get this thing working again, I really don't want to that again. When I monkey endlessly with configuring a linux system, I want it to be for something fun and this isn't fun.
  10. I think it’s curtains for one of my two USBridges. No matter what Allo says, we can’t seem to get it to work (and since I’m an IT professional with 30 years experience, that’s bad news). Do you have any thoughts for under $1,000? The requirements are : must operate over WiFi or WiFi dongle Roon-ready Apple Airplay compatible USB out (feeds an Ayre Codex) Sound at least as good as the USBridge.
  11. I purchased two Allo USBridge units this spring from Allo. Let’s call these Hifi and Library. Hifi Connected via Ethernet Used for Shairplay only DAC is Ayre QX-5 Twenty (set to 352800/32) Library Connected via WiFi (to same network) Used for both Shairplay and Roon DAC is Ayre Codex (set to 352800/32) Hifi works for Shairplay, Library works for Roon. When I try to connect to Shairplay on Library, however, the Shairplay instance crashes. I tried to follow earlier directions to replace it with version 3.1.3 but that didn’t work. I am running Dietpi 6.18.14
  12. I use an Allo Digital USBBridge for Shareport. Would prefer to go straight in. Roon via ethernet into the Ayre sounds better than via the USBBridge, but that's higher resolution than Spotify.
  13. A new net update rolled toady. I wonder what is on it? In other thoughts, we have spotify streaming to the qx-5, would it be impossible to get airplay to stream to the qx-5 via shairport? It's not top quality but 1. neither is spotify 2. neither is roon. i still prefer the turntable with the rest of my ayre gear, although it's pretty close 3. it'd be good for parties and the family.
  14. On a related note, what the heck with the eMMC card? I have been using Raspberry Pis for years and have only encountered this now. I guess it's less prone to corruption (that's a great thing), but why not include a reader/writer or at least include one as an accessory or give an approved model to find on the usual sources? Is anyone using a Microsd card for updated software?
