  1. Has anyone had issues installing the Amanero Combo 384 ASIO Drivers on Windows 10? I am a Lampi B7 owner. I have been using a windows based laptop as an NAA to stream DSD256 to the Lampi B7 from a Mac Mini using HQ Player. The sound from this combination is amazing! The windows based laptop I have been using is an i3 Dell with Windows 8.1 on loan from a relative. I now have a new Asus K501UX i7 laptop that I intend to continue using as the NAA (and occasionally for other uses). The new laptop is a Windows 10 machine. I installed the Amanero Combo 384 ASIO Drivers on the Windows 10 laptop. Install is successful and driver is detected as working when I plug in the DAC to the Laptop's USB. However, for some reason I cannot get this to work properly. I can play or stream PCM up to 24/96 to the Lampi. Anything above that (including DSD at any rate) comes out as noise, pops and clicks on the DAC. It seems to me this is a driver problem or some driver incompatibility with the new computer (since the DAC works fine with the mac or the windows 8.1 laptop) but I have been unable to fix it. Do you know of any incompatibility between Windows 10 and the Amanero 384 ASIO Drivers? Any help of comments would be appreciated.
  2. sligolad Have not tried yet as i should be getting delivery of my Big7 tomorrow! Will report when I do.
  3. Thanks Mike. I have heard great things about 101D Western Electric Replicas - this was my original choice for the order. For rectifier I ordered the Shugang 274b. I will have to try the Brimar 5Z4GY(CV1863)!
  4. Thanks wisnon and zerung for your replies. Already ordered the PX4's - can't wait to get my B7! I will start looking at other tubes to start rolling when I get the unit.
  5. Has anyone tried the the KR PX4 on a Big 7 or GG? Any thoughts or impressions would be appreciated. Getting my B7 soon and the factory is offering KR's PX4 instead of WE 101D replica's (which I had ordered). Apparently they ran into a faulty batch of 101D’s so keeping that option would delay delivery.
  6. Audiogate can convert DFF DSD files to DSF, which as has been discussed here has better tagging capabilities. Does anybody know if the DFF to DSF conversion in Audiogate has any effect on the file? Is the resulting file equal in all respects to a DSF rip from the SACD? I would like to use the conversion for certain DFF files but would not do if I would be getting anything less than an exact copy of the DFF file in DSF format.

@wgscott: I know enough English to have a law degree from Georgetown University and to know when the word incompetent is being used in a pejorative way. So as you can see, I may be incompetent with respect to "md5's" but not just "incompetent" in general. However, at least the tone of your responses has really proven my point. I see no reason to continue to post on this thread since clearly we see things very differently.

@wgscott: I have no issue with acknowledging when something is technically beyond my knowledge and don't believe this makes me incompetent. I also don't believe that not being an expert on the subject to how "md5" files are created makes me less able to know when someone is taking an inappropriate tone - at least in my view. However, calling someone incompetent does seem like right out of Donald Trump's mouth!

@esldude I am not suggesting that if something is wrong it should go unchallenged, as I clearly stated disagreement and civil discussion is part of what makes this forum special. If you re-read my post all I am questioning is the tone of communication and the use of sarcasm where more civil discussion can be more beneficial for the forum and may avoid having people getting carried away to the point of forcing Chris to delete posts. That is why I thought that whoever was right was irrelevant - at least in terms of addressing the tone of communication.

@goldsdad: No hidden agenda here. Just trying to call 'em like I see 'em. It may that I misinterpreted something, but just what did you mean by your response to this statement? elcorso: "If I could be banned for be honest, I'll be happy." goldsdad: I'd better bite my tongue now. There are many ways of saying something without actually saying it. Isn't that what sarcasm's all about? In any event, I'll take your prior post a clarification in the sense that that is not what you meant and that you were not being sarcastic. I am glad to know that.

@goldsdad: I had not read the posts that created the dispute before going over your posted image. I don't know enough to know who was technically correct or who had their facts straight, but I certainly would not be proud of the tone contained in your posts nor of the fact that you suggested that elcorso should be banned from the site. Maybe he chose to leave because he did not feel welcome anymore. That is his right. Whether or not elcorso was right - I think he genuinely believed was he was posting and was not intending to take anyone for a fool. I also have not seen any post by elcorso stating that he wants his account to be deleted or his membership cancelled, so I see no basis for those claiming elcorso is grandstanding. All I have seen is post by someone who seems to appreciate his views and seems to think he is an interesting contributor to the site asking him to reconsider his decision to leave. I am not very active posting on this site, but I come in every couple of days mostly at night and enjoy reading it enormously. I have learned a lot from it. One of the things that makes this site so rich and interesting is the diversity in opinions so I hope that can continue to thrive in a civilized manner. Just my 2 cents!
