  1. Chris, When you are running Win7 Extreme/JRMC15 into your Weiss DAC 202, are you using the Weiss ASIO output? If so, how do you have it configured? Have you had any similar problems? Have you compared the sound quality of the Weiss ASIO to WASAPI?
  2. The clock source is switched to internal for best sound quality.
  3. Hi Cris, When I switched from 16/44.1 to 24/96 there was no sound and I could see on the DAC 202 display that it was receiving a 24/96 signal (as usual. Then I switched from Firewire to XLR on the Weiss remote and back to Firewire. Still no sound. I tried another test. While playing back a 24/96 file, I switched from Firewire to XLR (no sound of course, since XLR is not active) and then back to Firewire, but the sound did not come back on, however, 96.00 kHz signal is locked. I have tried unplugging the DAC 202 power and Firewire connector but there is no change in this problem. FYI, I am using Windows 7 Extreme Edition and have set another audio device as the default device (toslink) to keep windows "occupied" per your advice in your Windows 7 and JRMC review (excellent source of info!). And I have tried various buffer times in the JRMC15 "Output Mode Settings". Currently the minimum setting of 0.02 seconds is bit transparent at 16/44.1, 16/48, 16/96, 16/192, 24/44.1, 24/96 and 24/192 but is a bit unstable, where JRMC15 kicks back an error message frequently. At 0.51 seconds, 16/44.1, 16/48, 16/96, 24/48, 24/96 and 24/192 are bit transparent, interestingly, 24/44.1 is not bit transparent. But since 0.51 seconds is more stable, that is what I have been using most of the time.
  4. I'm having a problem running J River Media Center 15 into my Weiss DAC 202 (with Firewire connection). It works fine when I set the output of JRMC15 to WASAPI, all data rates work and are bit transparent (16 and 24 bit, 44.1, 88.2, 176.4, 48, 96, 192). But when I set the output to ASIO (ASIO Weiss Firewire IO Device), it works fine until I want to play a track with a different sampling rate. If I start out playing Redbook (16/44.1) and then switch to a higher rez track, 24/96 for example, I hear the DAC 202 click and display 96.00 kHz, but I hear no sound. If I close JRMC15 and restart it, it will play the 24/96 or any other data rate. When I switch to another rate, I have the same problem. When I go from 16/44.1 to 24/44.1 (like the Beatles USB collection) there is no problem, so it is not a bit depth problem. This wouldn't be a problem, however, the Weiss ASIO output sounds slightly better than WASAPI to me. Any body have any suggestions? Chris Connaker?
