Thanks for those replies about the wirelss streaming.
The linn system is LK85's with Tukans (bookshelf size, much bigger sound!) so not a 'huge' system and not in the price range of the new kit, given most of it is 10 yrs old or so. However I take the point regarding the Cambridge and quality - it would be a shame to let the whole thing down.
Some useful thoughts on the temporary side, so will look at those and getting me up and running - and then look into Linn DS's and similar.
