I have had a Synology 1010+ (5 Hitachi 1TB drives) for a few months now and am quite satisfied with it. So far, I've only used the Gb LAN connection, and plan to add a SATA connection eventually. I share the box at home. I run it in RAID 5 mode but since I've had no failures, I cannot say how easy it will be to fix once it fails. Besides music and photos, I use it for backing up my two Windows PCs, and it seems to work flawlessly. It took me a little time to figure out how to use the online interface (I suppose I should have read the manual) and I do not use most of its capabilities (so far only file sharing) but it's simple enough to do. Although I have limited experience and time with it, I'm completely satisfied at this point.
