  1. Microreview: I own the DDA-100 since 3 weeks and found it is an interesting product. USB input quality is not so good, but spdif is great, it is very revealing with good source, converter and cables. I am happy with the unit, soundstage and microdetails are great. One week burnin is necessary. I have tested the spdif output with a Van den Hul fiber cable. I prefer to use some external DAC for my Sen HD-650. Anyway it is a 500$ unit, so it is a very good value, but of course it will not sound like some $$$$ units Of course, this microreview is made with me ears, listening room and music, it is only my personal opinion ! Cheers
  2. also bootcamped win7 sp1 64bits. Both are really excellent (aiff) jplay (foobar) is more detailed and less forgiving depends of the music !
  3. Thank you to bzr, really good FAQ I have build a NAS to compare with firewire local Mac Book Pro storage Findings are: NAS is better (after 10 days testings) More detailled and relaxing sounds NAS is: windows xp underpowered to 600MHZ - 1.1V vs 1700MHZ - 1.3V very important to avoid ground loops, RJ45 cross cable is U/UTP : Unshielded cheers Francois
  4. Hello everybody, I have optimized osx for audio (disable unnecessary service like Spotlight, no atime, no network etc) and found some nice improvements. I use usb for connecting to the DAC, therefore I use firewire for storage Question: is it better to reactivate network and use a NAS ? (Assuming that using another path and HW controller on the motherboard may modify "os jittery") Thank You François
  5. I have upgraded the MBP with last firmware and 10.6.6. Still NOK But when I switch off my LCD TV (Mini display port --> HDMI), and reboot, it's work ! For users still with the problem, this product may help, but it need an usb port : http://twistedmelon.com/mira/ (did't try it) cheers
  6. Do you have applied the last firmware upgrade for you mac mini ? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237 --> MM31.0081.B06 (EFI 1.2) cheers
  7. Dear all, I have bought a new MBP (mid-2010, 10.6.4) because my old Mac mini cannot boot 64bit and is limited to 2GB RAM Everything work well except the Apple remote control, I need to press manytime to have an action like next track (Pure Music / Audirvana) The remote control work very well with the Mac Mini I have tried : new battery pair / unpair disable the remote in Security pref / re-enable press menu+previous for 5 sec I did not find any other solutions in google I did not have updated OSX and the firmware yet. Anybody with a solution ? Thanks a lot

    voyage-mpd

I was curious about voyage-mpd and have installed it (last 0.7 version, with Halide Bridge) Really disappointed with sound quality even after tried some tweaks found here: http://sites.google.com/site/computeraudioorg/linux-for-audio This PC have 1.5 GB RAM, one IDE hard drive for system/audio files (also tried to put audio files on RAM disk) , no wireless, no graphic card, all unused peripheric disabled, used with J.River-Foobar-Cplay on XP/7 with better experience. Network file transfers is OK, MPD client is located on another PC CPU is 2% while playing a song and not swapping. Audio files are flac 44.1 Khz Sound is like touched by congestion and too much grain, in comparison with my favorite Mac or Windows players Anybody with a positive experience with MPD ? Best François
  9. Bonjour Damien, do you think you can develop the integer code without hardware supporting it connected ? I can betatest with the Halide, but as I am using it, cannot send it to you now. Maybe somebody else have a spare spdif interface or DAC supporting integer mode ? Cheers (Joyeux Noël !) François
  10. 11. Dear Damien, I like very much the well balanced Audirvana "sound" . Thank you for this great implementation. In your todo list, you say that you are looking for an interface with integer support. I own an Hiface, if this product is suitable, I can send it to you. I have a wish, command line support: /min : start minimised /stop /play /pause /add : add file in playlist (also during playing) /clear : clear playlist /seek Purpose is to use players like foobar2000/foosq (via crossover) or adapt some mpd clients like Ario Cheers François, Geneva
  12. Hi guys, I have found this freeware: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=63365 http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?p=559193#post559193 another guy have made a simpler version: (foobar need to be installed in the default dir) http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79575 http://www.at-sea.com/FooSQ.html It's work but it is mandatory to read carefully the instructions, you may need some limited programming skill. It's also look that development is finished Cheers
